Default Saudi cleric favours one-eye veil

Thought this was funny as h3ll!! LOL

A Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia has called on women to wear a full veil, or niqab, that reveals only one eye.
Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan said showing both eyes encouraged women to use eye make-up to look seductive.

Why one eye. It should be no eyes.

Mascots don't need eyes.

I'm not sure I find this funny... more like incredibly sad for the women who will inevitably be the victims of this insanity.

Don't disagree, but sometimes you just have to laugh, then cry, then get mad.

Tonight I laugh.

I was up at the university today and there was some sort of Islamic conference on campus. I mostly just saw the separation of the men from the women and I have to say I was absolutely repulsed. Most of the men were wearing just street clothes while the entire group of women were covered head to toe, some with veils and even the full burka.

Absolutely repulsive.

Yeah, its painful to watch how Islam treats women, and especially that its so widely accepted because its religious belief.

There was this discussion, must find it, that was talking about how badly educated women in Islam are often the most extremist believers of Islam and are showing similar traits to Stockholm Syndrome, being that there is a fair bit of ill treatment from birth to marriage to women. Clitoral circumcision, arranged marriages, lack of access to education, spousal abuse, not seen equal in the eyes of Sharia law, etc..

Brillant read IMO. 2 central characters are women growing up in Taleban ruled Afghanistan.

And on, and on, and on, and on.

But, I find it EVEN MORE repulsive that it is even CONSIDERED to be a hate crime to speak out against how Islam treats women.

You and I are on the same page in this regard. Which is kind of humbling.

First, it isn't Islam that treats women poorly. It is men that follow Islam that treat women poorly. Just as Christian men treated women as second class citizens in the past.

Secondly, I think it is getting better instead of worse as Muslim women see the freedoms of the west and are starting to stand up for themselves. There have been protests in Saudi Arabia by women demanding the right to drive.

My coworker has 3 daughters and he has let them make up their own mind... two CHOSE to wear the hijab, while the youngest did not. The youngest is treated no differently than the elder sisters. So not all Muslim women are forced to wear traditional clothes... some choose to completely of their own volition.

Wearing the hijab and conservative clothing isn't even a mandatory part of Islam... unlike the 10 commandments, it was more of a suggestion. An insulting suggestion that if men see a woman in provocative clothes they are more likely to be tempted to commit rape....

They should put veils with no eyes on all the men, problem solved.

Good on you for pointing that out! Before people start casting stones of their own they should examine the situation and make sure they are throwing them at the right thing.
