I know at first glance this seems a fairly lame and generic thread, but really, I am interested.
Where the heck is everyone from? What nationality?
I guess my curiosity springs from spending the better part of my workday chatting with faceless cybergeeks(no offence...i'm one too....the first step is acknowledgment).
At any rate, I realized, my natural tendency was to assume I was talking to a bunch of lily white men...hunched over computer screens...cackling at our collective wit...which is probably true in a lot of cases...but I digress.
I'm orignally from Ontario...never a Laffs fan... I know better than that.
I'm a mutt myself. Lil bit o' Irish, Lil bit o' scottish, teensy bit of English.
(got the temper and red hair to prove it)
eeep sorry...wrong forum

I'm from Canada - born and raised in Calgary for all 20 years of my life- my family's been here about as long as the natives - I think the family tree goes back about 8 generations. Further than that, I think it's scottish and english.
As for the "my natural tendency was to assume I was talking to a bunch of lily white men...hunched over computer screens...cackling at our collective wit", you're spot on with me
edit: wow, with your comment in TPBM thread, it seems that you know a lot about me...........

I was looking around last night for one of those maps where people input where they are from and it shows up as a pushpin on a map. I found one a bravenet.com but I didnt feel like registering for it.

Originally from Kenora, Ontario. Lived in Brandon MB, Thunder Bay ON, Vancouver BC, and now Lethbridge AB.
Usually when people ask me where I am from, I say Vancouver because that is where I lived the longest consecutively since highschool.
Always a Flames fan though. Well, since around 1987 anyway.

Born and raised in Calgary, been a Flames fan since I was 7 (29 now). I hate to admit it, but I was an Oiler fan in Kindergarten, then fell for a girl that was a huge Lanny fan and it took me one whole recess to switch. Been a Flames fan ever since!
Damn persuasive, those members of the opposite gender.....
Oh yeah, half Irish and Scottish. Apparently my last name in Ireland traces back to a band of sheep thieves, but that's irrelevant, right?

im not quite sure where im from, there are way too many factors at play, especially when you consider that the country i was born in doesn't even exist anymore.

I forgot to add nationality.
My father is from Croatia, and my mother was from Poland, but her mother was Ukrainian.
So I guess I'm 1/2 Croatian, 1/4 Polish, and 1/4 Ukrainian. That is 100% Canadian!! :P

I won't state where I think you were born, but is it 300km north of Calgary, and does it suck big time?

I was born in Calgary, and moved around alot, lived in Cold Lake, Red Deer, and even...Edmonton before moving back to Calgary. Been here for over 8 years now. Always been a Flames fan, except 1 day in ECS when I wore an Oiler's jersey to school...I'm to young to remember it, but I'm pretty sure my dad made me. :P
