FLAMES CUT SIX FROM TRAINING CAMPROSTER
Six Players Released from Try-Out Agreements

For Immediate Release
Monday, October 06, 2008

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames announced today that the team has released Scott Reid and Mike Hamilton from their Professional Try-Out Agreements. Troy Ofukany, Jeff Pierce, Justin Bowers and Ryan Dutton were released from Amateur Try-Out Agreements. Following today’s cuts, the team’s roster features 23 players (15 forwards, six defensemen and two goaltenders).

The Flames are hosting a Season Ticket Pick-Up Party at The Lodge on Tuesday night. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and lasts until 8:00 p.m. The 2008-09 Flames will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs.

The regular season kicks off on Friday in
Rockford. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hayman’s Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show will be on 93.9 FM WYEC beginning at 7:05 p.m. The game can also be heard on qcflames.com.

On Saturday, the
River of Red returns to the i wireless Center for Opening Night 2008. Fans are encouraged to wear red to welcome the team back to the Quad Cities. The first 6,000 fans in attendance will receive River of Red Rally Towels courtesy of Genesis. Opening Weekend concludes on Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. face-off with the Peoria Rivermen. The first 5,000 fans will receive magnetic schedules.

what's the roster size in the AHL? Likely add 3 more players waived yesterday brings the total to 26 players.

Whose left to cut? Can't see them keeping Vandermeer, Tremblay and Watt

They'll have 9 d-men (including Baldwin, Rhett and Eriksson), so Straub (and Spang) likely and odd man out

Baldwin is hurt.

Straub will be gone.

Vandermeer isnt going anywere.
Find it hard to belive watt is going anywere
Tremblay might be a eating alot of popcorn.

There isn't one. But McGill has suggested he'll go with one extra at each position. 13F, 7D, 2G.

Huh? What would lead you to believe that? By all accounts he's been quite solid in preseason. He's also a minor league vet, why would Sutter sign him to be in the ECHL? That makes no sense at all.

^read the rest of the sentence; there are 3 names who all play similar roles; can't see them keeping all 3.

Yes, I also believe Vandermeer will be the one to stick of the 3; maybe 2 of them stick
