Default Shaw - Sportsnet Alternate - my god..

I was on the phone for an hour last night, and none of their representatives seem to know what the hell is going on. On the phone for an hour this morning and same garbage. This is the first time I've been legitimately disgusted by their service. I'm in Fort McMurray, and channel 310 (or anything) for Sportsnet Alternate isn't available to me. I've been given the run around, told this told that, no one seems to know what the heck is up. Hell, they had trouble finding my phone number (a shaw phone number!) and address.

Oh great, a transfered called just got hung up on.. fantastic.

Really, I don't want to get rid of the service, Satellite providers go with contracts right? And I really don't want to do that, but this is getting silly. If anyone has any tips or help to get through to these knuckleheads I'd love to hear it.. very frustrating morning. After spending money on a shaw hdpvr, the possibility of not being able to use it if I switch is disgusting.

hmm, I'd give it a day or two to decompress. Like you say, this is the first time you've been disgusted by them and you just bought a pvr. Looks like you just managed to get in contact with a slower crew. Try again later and hopefully you'll hook up with somebody more competent. Generally they're fairly good I find, but every now and then you get ahold of "that guy".

A really good site if you "...just are not going to take it anymore!" is the

http://consumerist.com/

Specifically, they tell you how to get your customer services issues dealt with. My interweb is not working at work but google "how to make an effective customer complaint"

When having issues with telecommunications providers, I always go through the menu to the part where it gives the option to cancel your service. You'll hit the retentions department, and they have more ability to fix things for you.

And if you think Shaw is bad, try Bell's customer "service." I have both providers, and while Shaw may seem like they have deaf mentally challenged people working there, Bell has their infinite number of monkeys; eventually one of them will get it right, but the most of the time they just throw their poo at you.

if you buy a sat receiver straight out, you shouldn't need a contract. I bought 4 off of ebay and no contract required.

and i have personally had no problems with Bells CS.
