Default You want this envelope to go where?

Has anyone tried to ship anything to Iran? It can be pretty frustrating. I know you have to write on the Purolator envelope to ship through London Heathrow but it doesn't always work. We've been trying to send documents to a student in Iran and half the time it ends up going to a distribution place in the US and they refuse to send it to Iran so it gets sent back to us. It makes me think of that commercial that used to be on not long ago. I don't remember if it was FedEx or Purolator though. Time to fill out the paperwork and send it off AGAIN.

Weird, my company is always sending documents to Iran and such places with no problems. I'll have to check how they've been doing it and get back to you.

They tell me I have to write "ship through London Heathrow" on it but I guess sometimes they don't see that and it goes to the US.

All I can remember right now is that we use DHL. The shipper is in a meeting, I'll be back.

My company all the time ships items to Iran etc. Its the reason we are a legally separate company from our mothership in Houston.

Althought when we ship stuff its via a shipping container in the Port of Montreal. For letters etc we use Canada Post as it doesnt get routed via the US.

Here's a quote off of http://www.telexperts.info/courier_shipping.htm

"DHL Express provides air service around the world. They are the only major courier that provides air freight service into Cuba (corporate deliveries only), Iran, Libya and North Korea, in addition to the other countries around the world."

I think my company tried the purolator thing as well, but most of the time the items were returned. DHL never had a problem.

It matters where the DHL hub is though. The Fedex hub is in Memphis so that is why it gets routed to the US.

Its possible that DHL routes direct to Europe from Canada, if so they might be your best bet, please be aware I hate them with a passion so I dont endorse using DHL, this is mykalberta and I apporve this message.

gents, i worked in this business a long time.

1) Purolator (until recently) used DHL for all deliveries outside of Canada. They now use UPS. By the way, so does DHL (use UPS) as DHL shut down all air operations in North America.

2) Canada Customs can and does inspect all shipments (including docs) to Iran.

3) I would recommend to use TNT for Iran as they will send it on a linehaul to their distribution in LHR. UPS and FDX hub through the USA.

4) Anyone shipping containers or airfreight can feel free to contact me for rates!
