Sorrentino's?
Has anyone here been to Sorrentino's on Sirocco drive? If you have, what did you think of it? Was the food good?
The reason I ask is because I'm having some friends come in from out of town and wanted to take them to a nice (Italian) restaurant, so any reviews of the place would be great.
Also, if you have any recommendations on other restaurants (preferably around the same area that Sorrentino's is in), let me have them!
Thanks!

I was there a couple years ago. I haven't been back. I just did not think it was anything special. Also, it was overpriced.

Yeah alot of people say Sorrentinos is overrated and overpriced. Those little Italian mom and pop restraunts are usually the best.

I take my girlfirend to sorrentino's quite a bit. Ya its a bit over priced, but the food is decent. The biggest draw for us is you can substitute any pasta for gluten-free pasta, and my girlfriend is a celiac

My wife and I have been a few times, I would agree that it was nothing remarkable, but i think that the price was fair. I would say that if you leave near there, it is worth checking out. I think that I remember that there is a good view of the city from some the tables

Sorrentino's was not impressive at all when I was there a couple years ago. Overpriced, and average.
I echo La Dolce Vita, and suggest La Brezza and La Piccola Napoli

It's ok for a chain restaurant (they are also in EDM). Unless you live in the area, I wouldn't go out of the way to go there.
I forget the name, but there is a great Italian place up Edmonton Trail (near the Body Shop).

If you live "On The Hill" (Signal Hill, Coach Hill, Strathcona, Aspen, etc.) and want to go for italian within the 'hood, the alternative to Sorentinos is Why Not Italian in the Strathcona shopping centre. Despite its name, it is actually a real italian-run restaurant with some authentic fare. We've had some good meals there and also some average. Though, the last time we were there I noticed all the kitchen staff now seemed to be asian, so perhaps that does not bode well for the future.

Definitely not closed down. The name of the restaurant is Sandro's pizzeria, my favorite restaurant in Calgary. At least that's what I think of when I think of a small restaurant in an industrial district down Edmonton trail .

Was it La Trattoria? I've been there a few times, definitely a mom and pop place with GREAT Italian food, I'd recommend going there.

Good call - we had some good meals there - great waiters from Spain.
