Default Wedding Slideshow music help!

Hi folks,

Need some help in getting some tunes together for a buddy's wedding. Im best man/slideshow dude, and need some good music to go with the photos.

The format will be:

Her baby/growing up
His baby/growing up
The two dating etc

Pretty standard stuff here, nothing too special. One stipulation: No Blue Rodeo.

Cheers,

James.

Rascal Flatts - God Blessed the Broken Road

... I think that could work.

For his baby growing up - "When I Grow Up to Be a Man" by The Beach Boys
Hers - "Gracie" by Ben Folds
Together/Dating - "We Are Gonna Be Friends" by The White Stripes

I make these recommendations knowing absolutely nothing about the bride, groom, yourself, or the audience.

Ah weddings, my favourite part of Summer!

For Her:

Vann Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl (If that works of course )
Bobby Darin - You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby

For Him:

Five for Fighting - Hundred Years
Kenny Chesney - Young

Together:

Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight
Edwin McCain - I'll Be

Personally, I am a huge James Taylor fan so I would go with something like How Sweet It Is or Something In The Way She Moves.

This was done at a wedding last week, but I can't remember all the songs used. I know that "Daughters" by John Mayer was used for 'her'.

Obviously for the growing up portion for her there needs to be:

Tiny Dancer, Sir Elton John.

whatever you do, just no fricking Coldplay. it's the most over-played background band ever (which should tell you something about the product).

"Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews Band would be another good one.

For the 'couples/dating' section: Every Moment by Joy Williams

Our photog used it for a slideshow of our wedding photos - it worked out great, we thought it was perfect.... even though we had never heard it before then!

And don't use James Blunt. Talk about cheese. If you want a cheesy/poppy song that everyone can get into, use "She's Mine" by Brett Dennen.

Van Morrison is a great choice but don't use one of the expected tunes (Brown Eye Girl or Moondance), but rather go for his rendition of "Someone like you". A classic tune that is beautifully sung.

A youtube link to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVpgIm37RKw

Great selection for the dating part.

For one of her growing up Leanne Womack's "I Hope You Dance" is real nice but someone expected.

Van Morrison is an excellent choice. I would throw Crazy Love, Tupelo Honey, Sweet Thing, These are the Days and I'll Be your Lover too into the mix. They could all work.

What about MagicMan by Heart for his baby/growing up pics?

Does it have to be a slower song?

Her - Sweet Child O mine - GNR

His - Don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys - Willie and Waylon

Together - When in Rome - The Promise (nothing more romantic than Napoleon Dynamite)

Mix it up. Stay away from the cheesy new country. Everyone has a bunch of Rascal Flats/Tim Mcgraw/Kenny Chesny etc. And its well known they suck.
