Mike Myers in Inglorious B@st@rds?????
This has been a movie LONGGGG in the making from Quentin Tarantino. I lost count of how many years he's been talking about this making this film, I think it was somewhere either before or after Jackie Brown. Anyway, I haven't checked out anything for a while until today, and man what a bad surprise with the casting choices. Don't get me wrong, I like Mike Myers. I think he's hilarious and a very gifted comedic actor but I just don't see him in a QT flick, especially one about WWII. I also don't see how Brad Pitt is a good choice to play a Jewish character. Hopefully I'm wrong and that my ill feelings comes from nothing more than just a long wait for this one. What I did find that seems pretty cool is the choice to cast Bob Dylan, I think as a narrator.

I was just reading about this movie today. Tarantino has been talking about doing this for about 6 years. I am really excited for it.

Tarantino always does this. He casts actors he feel best fit his roles and doesn't care about their stigma or what others think they can do.
John Travolta in Pulp Fiction and David Carradine in Kill Bill come to mind.

Boy after the crap that was Love Guru, the horribleness of Shrek the third and the Cat and the hat.
On one hand this is equivalent to Tarantino throwing a very large life preserver at Myers. And Myers throwing a very large explosives laden anchor at Tarantino's credibility.

Mike Myers can act - remember how excellent he was in Studio 54 if you think he can't. I imagine QT is looking at that as well instead of just his more recent resume.

Isnt Mike Meyers also rumored to star as Keith Moon in an upcoming movie based on his life? That will be interesting as well.

This will be interesting. I think the plan will be to exploit Myers' current likability level (or lack thereof) in casting him as a General (my best guess is that given Tarantino's view of establisment(s) and power structure(s), a character of a General will hardly be sympathetic); which probably work well in the film, and subsequently could help to rebuild Myers' reputation. Could be a stroke of genius. Or it might be a colossal failure. But given what QT has done in the past for Michael Madsen, John Travolta, Robert Forster, Michael Keaton, Pam Grier, Darryl Hannah etc etc etc, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I know he can act, I wasn't trying to say otherwise. My point was that I just didn't see him as QT type of actor. Silly type comedy yes. A ruthless character spewing cool lines, no. I just don't see it. But like I said earlier, I hope I'm wrong, and this is a Travolta-esque type of re-imagining of Mike Myers.

Tarantino and Myers would be an absolutely repulsive combo to me. I haven't liked anything either of them have done in many years and Tarantino is a pompus ass. I'd love to see his next movie completely tank like Grindhouse.

Let' see Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino play FOUR characters in the same movie like Mike did in Goldmember!

Tom Hanks was a washed up goofball until PHILADELPHIA and FORREST GUMP, now he's kinda a washed up non-goofball.

Grindhouse was great...and it's sad that people didn't appreciate the concept. I mean, who wouldn't mind getting to see two flicks for the price of one. The cool thing about the Rodriguez/Tarantino combo was that they were able to have all of the exploitable elements within a studio flick. Grindhouse flicks of old had to rely on nothing but the exploitable elements to get people into seats because they didn't have the budgets to make their movies. So as an homage to those, this newer Grindhouse concept kicked @ss. The fact that most people didn't get it is understandable but it sucks.
