Default Fan Wants More On Stage Entertainment From Oasis, Takes Matter Into His Own Hands

Quote:
Guitarist Noel Gallagher of the English rock group Oasis was attacked while playing on stage Sunday evening at Toronto Island Park.
Oasis was midway through its headlining set at this year's Virgin Festival when a man rushed the band from the side of the back-stage area and pushed Gallagher during the 1995 hit Morning Glory.

Seriously...why on earth would you do that? How drunk would you have to be to think that's a good idea?

I'm surprised they even came back on stage to finish. Knowing the tempers that Oasis has and having that big of a security breech, i thought they'd say "F it" and take their guitars and go home. I might of.

Oh, and I almost went to this show! (changed my mind because I thought it might lack the Fan Attacking Band showmanship I usually go for - how wrong was I?)

Look how fast those roadies and security emerge and take care of business, Secret Service style. Would YOU take a bullet for Noel Gallagher?

I remember back in the day they would leave the stage if a water bottle was thrown. Seems as though they've matured a fair bit. Personally I don't think I'd go back up for the night. That would freak me out. Apparently he may have broken ribs.

after the Dimebag Darrell incident, I'm surprised the guy wasn't killed by security.

I was there. Just got back into town. My sister caught the whole thing on her camera, I'll post the link to the video of it shortly.

It was pretty crazy. Noel went down pretty hard, and is hurt enough that they cancelled their London, ON show. I guess he has some rib bruising.

It was kind of surreal really. The guy just came out of nowhere, jumping over some equipment from the back of the stage and made a b-line right for Noel. Then he tried to attack Liam, but security got to him first. Liam managed to get a few shots in though, in the vid that is circulating everywhere you can't see it clearly, but he gives the guy a solid left uppercut/hook right as he's being dragged away. I read today the guy did not have a backstage pass, he somehow just managed to get back there. A ridiculous security breach. Could've been scarier had Noel been closer to the edge of the stage.

The crowd buzzed for a while before the new drummer (I think it was him) grabbed the mic and said to the crowd "just give us five minutes and we'll be back." That was met with loud cheers, and they came back for 2 or 3 more songs. But they did cut a few songs from their set (notably, Champagne Supernova) and were off the stage about 15-20 minutes after it happened.

It's too bad, because the crowd was rocking pretty good, much more so than the Calgary show according to my sister (she was at the CGY show). And it happened during a great song, one that starts the end of their set and leads into a bunch of classic tunes. A good deal of that energy was gone after the incident.

PS- If at all possible, avoid attending a concert/festuval on the Toronto Islands. Getting out of there was a nightmare. 18000 people trying to get out at once, with only 3 ferries that took about 400-700 passengers each the only mode of transportation out of there, besides the water taxis (additional fee for those). It was stupid, around 2.5 hours each night shuffling along like sheep waiting to get out of there. Lots of chanting about the security and how they kind of f*^%& up the Oasis show, that was the only highlight of standing around waiting for the damn ferries.

The shows were kickass though, Foo Fighters killed it on Saturday, Bloc Party was great too. Stereophonics were really good, and although I'm not a big Paul Weller fan, he sure is a "rock star." Lots of energy and charisma. Nothing close to Dave Grohl though. I hadn't seen FF live, and they were awesome. I'll put up some vids in a minute.
