IOC shows it still accepts bribes...
China's gold medal gymnasts were old enough to compete in the Beijing Games. However, international gymnastics officials still have questions about the team that competed in Sydney.
Two members of that 2000 squad -- Dong Fangxiao and Yang Yun -- remain under scrutiny.
Dong got a Beijing Olympics credential with documents that suggest she was only 14 in 2000, said Andre Gueisbuhler, secretary general of the FIG. Her blog also indicates she was underage in Sydney.
Yang, who also won a bronze medal on the uneven bars in 2000, said in a June 2007 interview that aired on state broadcaster China Central Television that she was 14 in Sydney. Gymnasts must turn 16 during the Olympic year to compete.
''I would hope that the whole world in sport realizes that the FIG is serious about these rules and the ethics and moral questions,'' Gueisbuhler said.
Calls to Yang and Dong's mobile phones rang unanswered Wednesday, a national holiday, as did phone calls to the Chinese gymnastics team's media officers.
''We are satisfied with the information provided by FIG, and we now consider the (2008) matter closed,'' said Emmanuelle Moreau, spokeswoman for the International Olympic Committee.
What a load of BS. Anyone in their right mind could tell some of those gymnasts were underage this past summer. For some reason when cheating involves kids it really bugs me.

So exactly where is there any proof or even alegations of bribes?

That's my thought as well. Incompetent maybe, but no solid proof there of money changing hands.

Ya you guys are right, that article didn't mention it. I read another one this morning that suggested China was attempting to pay off the officials to make them go away. Sorry, I'll see if I can find it.

That and pretty much every Olympics in the last 50 years has been the subject of bribes.
Be it the judges, refs or selection committee it is about as straight edged as FIFA.

No, but i mean, come on, it's China. The country that adds poisons to milk to squeeze out a few extra cents in profits. There might be no proof, but I have no doubt there is corruption going on. Cause well, it's China.

I don't disagree, T5, I'm saying the IOC is incompetent for not finding out the Chinese were cheating.

China cheating != IOC taking bribes, which is what the title explicitly states.
That's one of my big pet peves is when people start threads with rediculous and sensational thread titles that are in no way supported by the body of the article that is posted and seem more like the OPs way of making a statement.

I agree there that the IOC is as complicit as China itself. They might as well have put Putin in charge...
