Reskins are first to lose a starter for the season.
DL Phillip Daniels is done for the year with a torn ACL.

As much as I loved Jason Taylor as part of the Dolphins. He has done nothing but good things in the past. I believe he would have been a cancer this year.
Thank god he's gone!!!!!!
The rebuilding stage is in full force.

Great value for the Dolphins too.
A 2nd in 2009 and a 6th in 2010. Not bad for a guy that they didn't want on their team.
Who do you think has a leg up in the QB competition? I'd like to see Beck get a legitimate shot as a starter.
I wish they didn't have so many damn running backs. I'm starting to be concerned that they won't have a place for my boy Lex Hilliard.

I love training camp. Twice a day I check out the University of Wisconsin-River Falls site for updates on the Chiefs practices. I'm so obsessed that I even check out what food is being served every day in the cafeteria.

Saints boards are going hot and heavy! All off season it has been about 70/30 pro Shockey, but now it seems to be unanimous elation.

Good for both teams, IMO.
Giants get lose a good TE, but have a player in Boss who emerged while Shockey was injured, and this avoids any playing time controversy and adds a couple draft picks.
Saints get an impact receiver to help the passing game which faltered last season (compared to the previous).
This looks to me like a win-win trade.

Agreed, if Shockey can stay healthy, he'll keep defenses from double teaming Colston, and might just give Bush room to run.
I'm not too concerned about his attitude, he played for Sean Payton before and Payton seems to have good team chemistry going.
Plus, it has been apparent over the past 2 years that the Payton/Loomis regime will not tolerate knotheads.

Massive move for the Saints, Shockey and Brees should be an awesome combo. If the Saints defence plays half decent they should be in the NFC championship game.

My concern with Shockey is that he always seems to be complaining about something or another. Not good on a relatively young Saints offense.
he does have the talent though...hopefully he finds it again in NO.

Saints in the NFC Championship Game? I think I'm going to pee my pants. Seriously I'm only kidding, that is what I like about this time of year. The optimism and anticipation for the upcoming season. Unless your a Chiefs fan, I just hope Croyle doesn't get carted off on a stretcher in week 1. (Or I could be wishing for it by week 4).

Shockey is also injury-prone and has a habit of disappearing in big games. Saints got probably the 3rd ranked TE in the NFC East. I'd definitely take Witten and Cooley over him and I'm perfectly happy that the Eagles have L.J. Smith.
No offence Saints fans, I've just watched him twice a year for the past 6 years and I think he's vastly overrated.

Shockey has been my wife's favorite player since he came into the league, so I definitely understand what you're saying rubecube. His health is going to be a major factor as to whether this turns out to be a good move.
I have noticed since the Manning era began in NY, that he has focused more and more on getting the ball to his recievers, especially when Burress arrived. (Who can blame him?) There were multiple times last season where Shockey was wide open and Manning forced the ball to Burress.
I think that an offense designed by Payton, who was his OC during Shockey's rookie season (arguably his best) will lead to a top notch season if he stays healthy.
Brees loves having a big TE to throw to (Antonio Gates), but what excites me the most is the fact that Colston will have a chance to add to his numbers. Colston is a gamer, and if he is in single coverage, you can take it to the bank that he will come down with the ball. Add the possibility of an effective Robert Meachem and the Saints offense will be among the top 3 in the league. Who exactly is the LB going to cover if Shockey releases and Bush rolls to the flat?
My biggest concern is the running game, especially if McAllister is not 100%. Though Pierre Thomas showed flashes of ability last season. He was the reason why Rashard Mendenhall only started one season at Illinois.
The NFC South has a lot of question marks this season, and I would not call it overreaching to look forward to a division title. Now, what the Saints do from that point on is anybody's guess. They are a better road team, but can't seem to get it done in the cold.
Ah, the eternal optimism of summer football talk...

What is the status of McAllister anyway? Active, PUP?
