What's the fastest you've ever driven?
I'm not sure if we've ever had a thread like this on CP before. It can be anything, when you signed up for racing lessons at race city, when you pushed your first bike to the max, opertaing a speed boat, driving at stupid speeds down a city street while drunk and messed up on coke, whatever, just the fasted you've ever driven anything/anywhere.
I'll start. The first was when I got my first car, a '93 nissan altima. I took it out with some friends to the highway between okotoks and calgary, and just gunned it to the max. The fastest I got it going was when I got to one of the large hills on that highway, I reached about 210 before my speedometre started shaking rapidly.
The other one was when my buddy let me try out his motorcycle. I had never riden one before that day. I started out near race city, going about 140 on a country road, but quickly got the need for speed, and the often deadly beginners false confidence. By that night, I was bombing down 22x at 240km/hr and feeling like I owned the road. This could also go in a thread named "what's the stupidest thing you've ever done", and I really do wonder why I didn't die that night, as the bike had started to wobble a couple of times, and me being in shorts and t-shirt, I probably would have ripped my body to flesh kindling before I even stopped sliding along the pavement.
Anyone else?

2003 Lincoln LS V8 from Edmonton to Calgary in less than 1.5 hours.
Speedo maxes at 240, but the car had plenty of kick after that. I did this when I was 18 or 19 years old, and I will never drive that fast on the road ever again. Too dangerous. Very scary.
Fastest in a car that I owned was 175 and then my governor kicked in.

On the way home from Lloyd one time I did the whole speed down the hill thing in the good ol' Dodge Durango. Speedo stopped at 200 or so.
But the fastest I've ever gone would've been grad this year in my grandparents Mercedes. That car can absolutely fly. 215 no problem and you were still getting pushed back in your seat haha.

when i got my Mazda 3 i took it on a long empty backroad to wind it up, got it to 200 before the governor kicked in. though the car did that quite easily and i wasn't worried at all
the scariest speed i've been at was maxing out my old dodge aries k-car at 170. the speedo stopped at 140, but i buried it far past that and guesstimated how fast i was going. it wasn't too fun though as the car was starting to violently shake as it really didn't like being driven at those speeds

The fastest ive ever driven was 190 in my teal green 92 hatchback 4-cylinder mustang. Lol i know i know. I was gong down a hill and i thought that the car was going to fall apart. The fastest ive ever been is with my dad testing out a Nissan 350z going 240. That was sweet

I once drove my Mom's 1985 4-Door Pontiac Acadian Scooter 135 km/hr. Which I am quite certain is the highest landspeed ever recorded for that model. I had the son-of-a-gun up on two wheels around the corner of Sarcee Trail well before the Westhills stop lights were in place and would slow you down.
I was also a passenger in a GT-1 tube car at Race City where we max out at 250Km/hr on the front straight. That was damn scary but not nearly as frightening as the 135 in the Acadian Scooter.

Mine was on motorcycle - sorry can't remember the name as it was years ago. Thing is i was the passenger and my ex buddy was doing 190 going down city streets late at night. Lets just say it was a long walk home for me. Never been on a bike since.

250km/h on an autobahn in Germany last spring. Was in a Mercedes that I rented, explicity for driving on an autobahn.
I've driven 180ish many times here, and still do. It has to be in the right situation and in the right car. Never with traffic.

Also was on the Autobahn last fall.... went a steady 190 km/h in a low end rented Mercedes from Dresden to Munich. Lots of fun. Was passed by a pair of Audi A4's going who knows how fast, other than that, I was about the quickest on the road. I guess that makes me a tourist. I'd have gone faster but the Mercedes couldn't handle it, started to shimmy past 200.
In Canada.... took my current car to about 235 on a flat highway west of Calgary, no houses/traffic anywhere around, with great visibility. Just took it up there quickly, then let it go, was in 5th of 6 gears.... apparently it will do 300 but I'm not that crazy.
I was near the roads shown here:

(those guys were lucky not to get charged after this video, though there was an investigation)

I've pretty much always driven trucks in Canada but I took my mom's Oldsmobile Aurora out one time when I was about 18 or 19 and got it up to 220km/hr for about 30 seconds before letting off. At that speed, it felt like any twitch of the wheel was gonna send us totally out of control. Definitely the fastest I have and probably ever will go in a car. The stupid things young guys do!

Once again under the category of young and foolish.....
A buddy had just bought a Kawasaki Ninja, and all of a sudden we were racing down Deerfoot at about 3 am. I was in my old Trans Am, and really had no idea how fast we were going because somebody at GM decided that a 140 km/h speedometer was enough for that car. My buddy on the bike was obviously ahead, but he was getting mad because he had to slow for the curves on Deerfoot while I took them at full speed- granted I was sliding across 3 lanes to make the turns.
When we got to our exit he went behind me and signalled me to pull over. He said that as he hit the brake he looked at his speedometer and his needle was coming down from 250, so I was likely in the 240-245 range.

220 km/h on the autobahn in January this year, in a rented audi a4 2.0 tdi.
Could have gone faster but I had stupid people merging into the fast lane going about 190 so I had to slow down. The car felt solid at that speed.
As I went faster, my grin got bigger.

'93 Honda Civic I averageed 170km/hr between Calgary and Edmonton - There was 3 others that were going that speed, so I thought I'd try to keep up. Suprisingly, the car held up!
