Default Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore passes away at 47

well. DMB is my favourite, i have over 80 cds (they release tons of live albums) and have been to 15 shows all in all. so i'm a little choked.

not to mention, they're pat steinberg's favourite band (he has said so on-air MANY times). since steinberg covers the flames and this is a flames board, i think it's appropriate it gets posted.

tributes here to anyone who enjoyed his music.

As a very big DMB fan, this is incredibly tragic news and my thoughts go out to LeRoi's family and the band.

An extremely talented saxophonist - RIP LeRoi.

Yeah, for some odd reason I hit CNN.com tonight before hitting the sack and saw it and was in complete shock - now I'm just up reading all the forums and listening to some of the greats.

They went ahead with the show tonight though - what a surreal performance and atmosphere I'm sure.

Couldn't he play a few other insturments too? That's pretty shocking to see a guy that young gone long before his time. RIP LeRoi.

Unbelievable.

RIP LeRoi...you rocked.

His playing added a great deal to the sound of the band. Stunned, shocked and sad.

I'm guessing pulmonary embolism. Happens so often to recovering trauma victims.

Damned ATV's are trouble.

wow. they played a cover daniel lanois' the maker tonite, which was always a great tune for a 'Roi solo, not to mention it deals with death...

they started with bartender, which talks about salvation and had a chilling bari sax part, followed it with proudest monkey straight into satellite, both of which had prominent parts/solos, and went into so damn lucky, which is about someone who dies in a car accident. think they pretty much covered it, wow...

It was awesome to see him play the flute and the piccolo, he was such a big dude that it just looked a little odd.

RIP

LeRoi, you were DMB. Very sad news.

Although I haven't followed them over the past few years, as my user name shows, at one point they were huge to me. It is sort of like a part of my teenage years dying.

Really sad. My thoughts go to his family.

Couldn't even believe it when I read it guys! I knew he'd gotten hurt in an ATV accident, but this came as a complete shock.
