We never talk about the heat
There's always lots of discussion when a massive snowfall or continuous rain is hitting Calgary, but we should not ignore this latest heatwave. It's supposed to hit 33 degrees today. How's everyone enjoying and/or coping with this hot weather?

Yeah...supposed to be 33 here in Edmonton today as well.
I like Summer, but this is getting silly.
21 is the perfect temp IMO. We bought a portable AC unit at Home Depot and it barely touches this heat when it's 30+

Anyone who complains about how cold it is in the winter should never be allowed to complain about when it gets above 30 degrees.

I like it actually, it was a little draining during the softball tournament, but I much prefer the heat to cold. I'll be chilling out on a pub patio until late in the evening.
I'd much rather grab a beer and relax in the heat than deal with the cold in any capacity. I should move to Cuba.
This is Calgary, the heat wont be around long so you may as well make the best of it while its here.

Hate the heat. I'd rather it be cold. A person can bundle up with extra layers, but when you're down to your skin, there's nothing else to take off...

Aaah...Alberta. Saturday afternoon it was over 40 degrees here in Osoyoos. It was still low 30's in the evening when I was out rowing around the Lake. Even yesterday which was overcast and had a threat of thunderstorms was in the mid 30's. I think our worst day since July 1st was a high of 21 and that was one day. I can't imagine those folks who do that ironman triathalon in Penticton that's coming up on Sunday. The course itself is gruelling, but than with the heat...yikes.

Agree 100%. I like the heat. Sure, it can be easier to warm up then cool down but I would MUCH rather deal with +30 than -30 any day for the year. Get a portable air conditioner or hang out on the deck with a mist of water sparying over you. Or better yet, grab a dingy and float down the bow. That is summer my friends.

Heh, don't worry it'll snow in a couple weeks there. 30 degrees in Calgary is nothing. Try 30 degrees here wit the humidity making it feel like 40. Or 35 degrees with the humidity making it feel like 45. That's heat!
Luckily, around our record amount of rain this year, ou hot days have been Calgary like this year, with the exception of one week like mentioned above.
We are getting t-storms later today, then 23, 27, 27, 28 with no humidity. Perfect!

The heat in Calgary is so short lasting that I really don't understand why people complain. Don't like it? Wait a few days and it'll be back to the usual -30. Seriously, we need to enjoy it while we can! Go sit on a patio and have a few cold ones... you'll love the hot weather that much more.

The only problem I have with the heat that it negatively affects my sleep, if it’s too hot I don’t sleep a wink
However last night I had an epiphany!
I took the mattress off my bed and threw it out on my balcony right outside my room, and had a fantastic sleep
So now that I have fixed that problem bring on the heat!

i complain about the heat and the cold and there isn't a damn thing anybody can do about it! I actually hate the heat more for the reason mentioned above ... there's nothing you can do about it sometimes. Dealing with the cold is relatively easy in my opinion. Dealing with the heat is a different story. I can't sleep and I get irritable. My in-laws keep bugging the wife and I to move out to the okanagan with them. That sounds like hell to me.

Nonsense, it never gets that hot in hell.
Although, incredible heat and In-Laws? Thats a toss-up, I'd probably prefer hell.

Anything at the extremes for Calgary (+/- 30-35) is really not the greatest... I much prefer temperatures between -10 and +10, like we get for a few months like October/March-ish.

I had my windows open yesterday to cool off. Since I am in the basement suite of my building it usually works, but when it started raining yesterday it pretty much blasted hot humid air into my place.
Not too pleasant, but I'll still take this over the cold. I hate cold weather.

I just finished the Transrockies on saturday, the last 3 days were scorching, all above 30C. It's challenging enough without the heat baking you.

Really?
How old are you, 15?
Edmonton is a beautiful city. The Oilers suck, but the city is fine.
Really get tired of this crap about Edmonton. I realize you used the sarcastic colour, but it really doesn't excuse being just plain juvenille.
Anyway, back on topic: I hate extremes. Too hot or too cold is just not comfortable. I complain about the winter, but only when it -20 or colder. Same with summer. 25 or higher and it's just too darn hot.

I'm sitting in my basement right now. Cold tile floor and cold ambient temperature = Me happy.
I tend to get sick and feel like crap when it hits 25 degrees or more.

I'm not a hot weather person, I'm glad that summer is coming to an end because that means ski season and hockey season are going to be starting.
