Default Car Electrical Problem (Help!)

Here's the problem...

My GFs Tracker keeps blowing fuses for the stereo and cigarette lighter (it's an old enough vehicle that it is still a "cigarette lighter" input).

She has a Sirius sat radio that she plugs into the lighter input and that is what seems to blow the fuses. The stereo works fine on its own but then the fuses blow immediately after you plug in the sat radio.

The confusing thing is that she has used it for over a year without any problems and this just started happening. The owners manual says to use a 20 fuse but we tried upping it to a 30 anyway, but it still blows.

My old car used to do the same thing so a just put a penny into the fuse slot and that worked, but it was a p.o.s. car and I didn't care if anything happenned to it. With my GFs car, am a little more apprehensive about doing that.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem without messing anything up? A favourable solution could mean extra nookie for me.

Sounds like the adapter or the radio is shorting somewhere. Can you try plugging something else into the socket and see if it blows still?

Hmmm... I have a power inverter. Maybe I'll give that a shot... I'll just have to go and get some more fuses to test out.
