Default Palindromes

...Jim Rome was talking about them today.

Some simple examples:

"1221"

"race car"

some more complex one's from the show:

"gary knits a stinky rag"

"ah! satan sees natasha"

"go deliver a dare, vile dog"

"go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog"

...now come up with more.

how does punctuation work? These don't really work if you look at the punctuation as well.

"ah! satan sees natasha"
"go deliver a dare, vile dog"
"go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog"

theres a song by "Weird Al" called "bob" and all it is is palindromes
Id post a youtube link, but Im at work so I cant actually open youtube
but heres the lyrics:

I, man, am regal a German am I
Never odd or even
If I had a hi-fi
Madam, I'm Adam
Too hot to hoot
No lemons, no melon
Too bad I hid a boot
Lisa Bonet ate no basil
Warsaw was raw
Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see God?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won't lovers revolt now?
Race fast, safe car
Pa's a sap
Ma is as selfless as I am
May a moody baby doom a yam?

Ah Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No "x" in "Nixon"
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
"Naomi", I moan
"A Toyota's a Toyota"
A dog, a panic in a pagoda

Oh, no! Don Ho!
Nurse, I spy gypsies -- run!
Senile felines
Now I see bees I won
UFO tofu
We panic in a pew
Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo
God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog

I currently having a writing project that's based around palindromes. They're the most frustrating things to write, but very satisfying at the same time... the middle parts are pretty easy, but finding a beginning and end that match up is always difficult. And certain letter combinations are really tough. Using a 'th' for example. There are so few 'ht' combinations in language that the only time you'll see it in a palindrome is split across two words. (ie. dogs, eh? to the god!) And forget about Qs. I don't think I've ever seen a Q in a palindrome.

My personal favourite:

In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni

It's a latin palindrome which translates as "We enter the circle at night and are consumed by fire", and was used to to describe the behavior of moths.

Friday is August 8th 2008, which is sort of a palindrome (888).
