Police Taser boy with broken back 19 times
Quote:
"They tested his system. He was clean of drugs and alcohol. We don't know why unless just being in shock and the whole thing in itself caused him to forget everything," Hutchinson told the television station.
While Hutchinson remains in the hospital for major surgery on his broken back and heel, the family questions police actions that morning. His father claims if police hadn't stunned the teenager 19 times, his critical surgery would not have been delayed by two days.
"The Tasering increased his white blood cell count and caused him to have a temperature so they could not go into the operation," he said.
|
Quote:
"We called the police. My wife was afraid he was going to get ran over or hit," said witness Doug Messersmith. "He looked a little agitated but, other than that, he didn't look to be falling down drunk or anything like that."
When police arrived, they found Hutchinson under an overpass on U.S. 65 Saturday morning, Springfield's KY3 News reported. The boy had fallen 30 feet off the overpass and was lying on the shoulder.
When the boy didn't respond to police, they Tasered him, repeatedly.
"I'm not an officer, but I don't see the reason for Tasering somebody lying there with a broken back. I don't consider that a threat," his aunt Samantha said.

Don't tase me, bro.

He probably deserved it, you anti-taser people are stupid, would you rather a police officer get killed by one of these freaks?

Maybe they thought those volts of electricity would revive the young man. Regardless of whether the tasering was necessary or not, this young boys' hopes lie in the hands of one man, Dr. Spaceman.

That's right, Aunt Samantha, you're NOT an officer. So keep your nose out of things you know nothing about!

It's like when a bunch of mischeveous kids come upon something. They say "hey- let's poke a stick at it!"
Usually, it turns out well.

Yeah, sounds a little far out there to be true. Were these the same cops as in the movie Superbad?

Why not 20 times, guess the father thought 19 sounded more believable.

Here's the story.
The police don't confirm 19 times. Something doesn't add up.

This is my thought too.
The family's story here stretches credibility beyond reason.

I'm sorry but that statement by the police sounded like a lot of crap to me. Sounds more like another cop trying to cover for his fellow taser happy men. Seriously, you see drunks all the time mouthing the police and they get restrained and rarely tasered but they felt threatened by an obviously seriously hurt boy? I smell a big lawsuit waiting to happen here.

This comment really jumped out at me:
Quote:
Authorities say their use of a Taser weapon should not be questioned, because they were trying to help Hutchinson to safety.
|
Dont question the method because they were trying to help him to safety by electroshock alone evidently.

That's stupid, the public deserves a better answer than that.

If that story is correct, they should sue.
The cops wont be able to cop the story he was putting us in danger. The officer(s) who shot should be remanded to desk duty or fired.
EDIT: Dont get me wrong, I am all for the use for Tasers but this is ridiculous.

I'd like to see both sides of a report before I comment. Because both sides sound fishy. I have a problem with the concept that this kid was down and out and the police shocked him 19 times, so I'm questioning the validity of the families statement. I'm also questioning the police side, even if this kid jumped or threatened or whatever the cops, 19 times is getting a little carried away.
