I want to take my Girlfriend out for Fine Dining Experience Las Vegas Style...
I have done some research but I am finding it difficult to find a place that is bang for your buck....
A few rules...
1) I want a Good View
2) I am willing to spend up to about $500 for 2 people
3) If it is Italian it must be better than what i can get at home here.
I have come up with a short-list... Picasso and the Bellagio, mIx at THEhotel at mandalay bay, Valentino's at the Venetian, Il Mulinero New York at Ceasars Palace and THe Eiffel Tower restaurant ..
Anyone have opinions on what I have listed or any new suggestions ?
I don't have one with a good view but there is a terrific steakhouse with an intimate and classy setting called Alan Albert's that's right on the strip.
Bouchon owned by Thomas Keller. Reading Anthony's Bourdain's chapter on Thomas Keller leads me to believe that the top chefs in the world regard him as the Wayne Gretzky of cooking. He was cooking for Bourdain once and knowing that he is a smoker, put marlboro tobacco in one dish so that he wouldn't have a nic fit during the meal.
That was at his restaurant French Laundry in San Fransico. If I even strike it rich, I'm going there someday. The tobacco dish is shown in this video.
About 5 years ago I went to Alize at the Palms ... it's on the top of the older tower and was quite good. My gf at the time referred to it as the best meal she'd ever had. The Country Club at the Wynn has a great view of the 18th hole if you're not married to a strip view.
Jasmine room in the bellagio... It's on a point in the fountain so the fountain goes off all around you. It's Peking and very seafood based, the service is ok, and the food is decent if you're into that kind, but the view is unbeatable. For 500.00 you could get a nice meal, depending on the wine you get.. There is better food on the strip, but I have yet to see a better setting for a resturant. Get a seat by the window if you do happen to go..

given the price I paid for dinner. I was highly disappointed in the quality of the food there. The other rest. thats in the vicinity is Smith and Volensky. now thats a steak place. but its all ala carte. Best steak south of Alberta.
Steakhouses do not really interest me too much as we have so many good ones here in Alberta..Thanks everyone for the input... I will take a look at Jasmine....

I thought the price was pretty reasonable and my steak was cooked to perfection. I guess it just depends who's working the grill sometimes.
you can't beat the view of the fountain show and absolutely incredible food! You can also ask the front desk people at your hotel... they are awesome at knowing that stuff and they can usually get you in anywhere at anytime (for a price of course).
FYI. I slipped the host at Picasso $10 and he got me a table on the water. Funny thing was, that table wasn't "open" until the money showed up.
While not outright cheap (~$45 entrees?) it is cheaper than your budget and many of the other places already listed, has great food IMO, and best of all has a view over the interior lake at The Wynn (called 'Lake of Dreams' or something?) that has nighttime shows that are pretty damn cool!
