Camping with a baby?
Anyone gone tenting with a baby? I am taking my son this weekend (about 8 months) and wonder what he should be "in" in the tent?
I was debating about a rubbermaid or something like that...but I don't know. Any one know, or have any good ideas?

We used an insert that came with his carriage (made in germany). It was like a tiny bed with padded walls and a cover.

Just to be safe, I would put him in a cooler rather than a rubbermaid.
From there, throw a rope over a thick branch and tie one end to the cooler. Pull the rope until the cooler is suspended high and safe from bears, and tie to a secure branch.
No baby for you, bears.

We bought a little tent at Bobebe (the Crowfoot location which I think is now at Westhills) for about $100...and it is ridiculous, perfect for roadtrips its called the Kidco...keeps the bugs/sun out and keeps the little goober from rolling around
Whatever you do you may want to try getting them used to it in advance though

In our tent we just set up the playpen. That way you also have the playpen for during the day around the campsite.
But I do have to say that ATR had the best response. Hey BooBoo!!

Well said! Personally I would leave the baby at home with someone if you are sleeping in a tent.

We used one of those last summer with my son, who was 9 months then. Awesome contraption, since they move around so much at that age. Had him in it at the beach too.
It's called a PeaPod, and is indeed made by KidCo. We slept in a travel trailer though, and just put the PeaPod at the foot of the bed.

We had a pack and play, but our tent was pretty large. The pack and play comes with a handy dandy mosquito net, so that was handy.

We took our daughter camping with us last August when she would have been 6 or 7 months old. We had a small backpacking tent so a play pen or peapod or whatever wouldn't work for us. She slept in the tent with us curled up in our sleeping bags (which were zipped together).
We were still all sleeping in the same bed at that point so it wasn't a big deal for the three of us in the same sleeping bag. It was pretty warm so for the most part we were on top of an sleeping bag with just a light blanket. I was a bit worried how our kid would do but she loved it. All the fresh air knocked her out.

We just got back from camping with our 4 kids in one tent. It was great actually. They were all really well behaved and fell asleep quickly which is rare for them. Our baby is 5 months old but as she is mainly still co-sleeping she just slept in my wife's sleeping bag. My wife had also made her a fleece sleeper (like a mini sleeping bag) that she went in. We had no problems at all.
