Default Alta License Plates

Just curious if anyone knows what the following AB plate designation is:

MXXXXX - or any plate starting with "M". There are 3 cars around my place and I'm more curious than anything.

I thought it was dealer plates, but these are high end well used cars.

I have also wondered this, I thought it was dealer but there seems to be too many around.

Anyone know about the fleet plates? For example, rentals used to be C-XXXXX (I worked at a rental company) and then the skipped D,E why? Now there are still some C- but lots of F,G,H units out there. What's the deal?

I believe fleet plates depend on the company. Not all rental companies will use C-XXXX IIRC. Goverment will use different ones than say a large oil company. Probably aren't skipped, just not used. I'm guessing the M is just this, some company that perhaps rents out high class vehicles or rents a driver/car to drive high profile clients around town.

M plates are the new D plates - in other words, for car dealers.

"M" plates are dealer plates. When they are always in your neighbourhood, they are also known as "people who pretend to own fancy cars but don't".

I don't get it.
The people who are usually driving around in dealer cars are the salespeople at the dealership themselves. They borrow cars all the time, and their neighbors probably think they are hot stuff, when in reality......

OP said they were well used? I take that as meaning they are used cars? Unless he means they are well used as in being driven every time they are seen.... hmmmmm

These cars are definitely used. They are definitely not brand new and they've been by the same house for about 3 months now. 3 Porsches (2 Boxters and a Cayenne) and 1 Volvo.

I was thinking it was the car dealer owner actually, then he can write off the cars as a business expense.

I think you're all wrong. These are the swat teams cars and they're staking out the OP for a takedown!
