Default Scotchman's Hill - Can You Still Watch The Stampede Fireworks There?

Hello CP!

I was just wondering if you are still allowed to watch the fireworks at the Stampede from Scotchman's Hill?

If so, is there anywhere nearby there to park. I know they restrict parking pretty severely in the immediate area but I am willing to walk for a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Park to the left of the school just down the hill from the hockey rink.. They havent placed the no parking signs very well and you can park there if you are smart about it. I park there for every Flames home game.

Yeah, you can still watch them there (and many people do), but they will block off all the roads leading up to the top of the hill and you have to show a resident permit to get up there. That, of course, only refers to vehicles. If you want to park somewhere else in Ramsay and walk up the hill, that is fine.

"Scotchman's Hill" ? That is racist. We should re-name it MacLeod Peak.

It's not racist, it's sexist! Women can drink Scotch up there too.

Useless Calgary Trivia:

A lot of people think that it is called Scotchman's Hill (or more commonly Scotsman's Hill) because of the reputation for the area to draw large audiences of people who don't want to pay to see the fireworks (cheap, stingy, frugal are all common stereotypes of the Scottish). But in fact, the area was named for Mr. Ramsay, who founded the community which bears his name in the early 1900s, long before the Stampede was shooting off fireworks. Mr Ramsay was born in Glasgow Scotland, and owned much of the property in the area, hence, Scotsman's Hill.
