Looking at this and other stories ive heard, it looks like being a man in some US Jurisdictions is very tough. The reader comments suggest that there are several cases where a man is forced to pay child support for a child that isn't his.

the maintenance apparatus against men in alberta is quite bad as well, a friend of mine is having a hellish time with them.

he makes payments and they don't record them, so they take away his license.

i told him not to marry a paralegal!

Imagine how much of this may be going in America. It is quite obvious that men are guilty until proven innocent - and all costs at proving innocence falls on the men. Women have it way to easy. There should be a checks and balances with these types of cases, since obviously there was not. We should treat these cases much like how a corporate expense account is used where in such that women must provide receipts to the court on a monthly basis claiming their child expenses. I am sure many men are taken advantage of by women who knowingly are aware the courts will decide in their favor.
He's right too.

I have a buddy who paid for a kid for 4 years. He had to get a court injunction to force a DNA test. Finally was found not to be his. Evil bag.
I think I would be really inclined to sue the mother of the child for every cent plus interest on the child support payments.

Get the government to garnish her wages to pay you back.

base problem, i'll say it because no one else will.

women will quite often let emotions and money/business intermingle. regardless of the divorce circumstances, women usually see themselves as the victim.

their lawyers agree.

She wasn't rollin in the dough so it would probably hurt the kid who already has been cursed with her as a mother. [/b][/quote]
The better people to go after would be the government. A DNA test should be mandatory when there is a question of paternity, and should be completed before one cent is handed over. However, as is usual in these cases, men are guilty until proven innocent.

I have heard that in some US jurisdictions, perhaps it was California, that if you don't get the DNA test right away, but maybe a few years later (like in your buddies case 4 years) and its proven the baby is not yours, your still on the hook for all 18 years becuase you never denied being the father.
Seems rather harsh.

Why can't these people just go on Maury Povich or Montel? They solve problems like this every day and they don't get all fussy about the details.

If you bagged Shaniqua just fess up. If you didn't, a DNA test will dramatically prove it and you got a free trip to NYC and some spending money for the peep show.

DNA test or not, just flee the country and all your problems are solved. Go live in Cuba or Japan or something. Not that I'm encouraging it if you're not the travelling type but it sure as hell beats having half your paycheck taken away to feed the old bag's shoe-shopping account! I mean, it's bad enough that she lied to you about being on th pill!
