Well, those Liberal ads did warn us about this.
Now we have increased military presence in our cities. Canadian cities. Soldiers with guns. In our cities. In Canada.
I guess they didn't make it up after all.

There were a couple British Tornados flying around all last week. On Monday there was a big military transport thing landing at the airport and a Canadian military chopper was doing something at the Stampede grounds yesterday.
I don't know what any of it is about, but my guess is that the choppers will have something to do with the Stampede parade or they'll be on the grounds. Maybe they'll be recruiting carnies or something.

I think the RAF or navy has some fighter jets in town again. THey did last year, and I just happened to by driving by when they were taking off from the airport on a few occasions.
Fighter Jets gives me a raging... well... I get excited when I see one.

The other day, there were 10 flying in formation through Edmonton which was kind of weird. Don't they do their training more north?
Anyways, could be for stampede, I know the CF was at the Stampede last year, I had 2 friends who are CF officers there last year showing off some air force stuff.

I think it was Prince Harry again, checking out the ladies running along the river in their tight Lululemon gear.
Not that that's what I was doing at lunchtime.

"Hey everyone, these are our CF-18's! The pinnacle of late 70's fighter jets!
Yes, they're older than time itself! Wanna join the Air-Force?"

The ones on display last year had bondo and primer on them - the cutie army girl didn't seem impressed that I was pointing this out and asking her questions about it. (I felt bad and didn't ask about the serious leaks that they both had as well)

I just checked the CF-18's Wikipedia page. They're planning on keeping their planes until 2020?!
Wow.. I feel bad for our great pilots who have to fly those aging birds

All the military planes and helicopters are being flown as training for the RAF. They have been in Calgary since the middle of June and the majority of them are heading to Afghanistan and area shortly.

Yeah, god forbid we purchase JSFs and support the plane we helped fund.
How are those SeaKings holding up Ottawa?

They haven't 'confirmed' that they will purchase the JSF....but one would assume that they will.
The CF-18s might be around till 2020, but I doubt they'll be used as the primary fighter until then.
We could buy a few F22s from the Americans if they'd sell them to us. That ought to get people to enlist into the Air Force.

yeah, I don't see the Canadian government buying the F22 at about $138 million dollars a copy.
Supposedly the conventional take off and landing version is about 40 million a copy, the STOL version could come in at about 65 million a copy.
You can put that into perspective when you look at the CF-18 which has a modern day price tag of about 24 million dollars per jet.
