Default Drivers Licence Question.

Does anyone know if there is any length of time that one must hold a learners licence in Alberta before the actual Class 5 drivers test can be taken? Trying to find this out from the government on a long weekend is impossible. It is sort of urgent.
Thanks.

It's in the little book you had to learn for your learners. I don't know where mine is. But I'm gonna guess and say a year.

You need to hold a learner's for 1 year before you can take your exam for a driver's. Upon getting your driver's there is a 2 year probationary period. At least in Alberta.

Yep, its a year from the time you get your learners until the time you get a GDL (Graduated Driver's License).

So even as an adult you need to hold a learners for a year? Or is that just for teenagers?

i managed to avoid this quite nicely. in BC you get your intermediate license after you pass the first driving test. i moved to Calgary for school though before taking the final test and just kept using that license since no Alberta cops seemed to give a crap about the restrictions (visible N tag, not driving past midnight, etc). then when i bought my new car and got my license transferred to Alberta, they just gave me the full one instead of the Alberta intermediate equivalent

was nice to avoid having to do another stupid road test
