Bug bites still hurting 1+ week on?
I was ravaged by some bugs out in Banff about a week ago and resulted in a patch of bites on my back and stomach. They hurt for a week (my muscles... which I found weird of bug bites) but after a while, my stomach and most of my back didn't hurt.
But I still have a sharp pin prick/stabbing pain that comes every couple minutes from one of the bites (or the general area). I'm not usually concerned as I attract bugs like nobody's business and bites are a daily occurrence for me. The pain isn't debilitating, just a pain. Only lasts about a second or two. So I guess i'm trying to figure out if bug bites do this, or I'm looking at something else like a hockey injury or something.. but I haven't done anything to my back....
Any remedies out there? Maybe time to go get it looked at?
CP Medial team to the rescue, please.

It's probably infected. Or cancer. One of the two.
Try lemon juice, I used that in Costa Rica when I got ravaged by floating garbage bugs. Failing that go to the doctor and get antibiotic cream, especially if it turns into a boil. I've seen spider bites turn into a globule the size of a softball before, so I'd try to get rid of it before it gets worse.

Go to the Doctor. A month ago I got bit by something on my shin. After a couple days it was red and painful, about the size of a twoonie. I waited about a week and a half to go to the Dr and by then it was about as big as a coaster. Turned out it was a spider bite and I was about a day away from having to go to the hospital. The anti-biotic they gave me worked, thankfully. So, in my experience, I'd say save yourself the trouble and go to a drop in.

I also have bug bites over a week old that are still buggin me. I got mine in the Virgin Islands, they still itch after a week, but it sounds like yours are much worse.

That's the odd thing... there's no swelling and the bites are pretty much gone..

Yeah, not a lot of people know there are a few poisonous spiders in Alberta, the black widow being one of them. They're apparently found mainly in the prairies though (and in Banff)

Clearly you have ebola. Go to a doctor but stay the heck away from everybody and anything.
Ok, so maybe it isn't ebola, but still go to a doctor. Especially if you don't see much markings and it still hurts. Likely nothing to worry about and a doctor telling you as much will do wonders to your stress level.
A few months back I felt a slight pain or abnormal feeling in my chest. It caused me to worry that I was going to have a heart-attack. It was an extremely stressful time at work, and my wife had just gave birth to our 2nd son. I couldn't sleep one night due to these pains so I finally decided to go to the doctor. After being checked out I was told that nothing was wrong with my heart and that I should manage the stress in my life better. I haven't felt a single thing since. The stress from work was managable, but the thought of being on the brink of a heart attack made it worse.
Even when something is hardly on your mind it can compound and make the situation seem worse. Get a doctor to either ease your mind or get the problem fixed.

Have you been experiencing quicker than usual reaction time? What about the ability to climb walls and shoot webbing from your forearms?
Better have the piece of mind and go to a Mediclinic and get it checked out.

I assume that you spent the night in a local hotel/motel? The symptoms described sound like a classic case of bed bugs. Let me know if you spent the night or was this a camping trip and I'll update you further.

Nope. No local motel, or any motel for that matter. Had some friends over from England and we went out to Banff for the day. This is when I noticed the bites. It could have happened a few days before or after, I suppose, but this seems the most likely day. Didn’t do anything too crazy, went into the woods for some pictures (see the never ending photo thread) and at a few points I was laying on my back. We took that Sulphur Mountain gondola, and it smelt rotten… but other than that… nothing really that different.

Numerous Bug Bites on the belly and back sound to me like one thing only - Bed Bugs!
I wonder if there is any way your guests picked up some bed bugs on there travels and transfered them to you while staying at your place but this seems unlikely for two reasons.
That seems like a large number of bites for one or two bugs transferred in and you would continue would continue to get bit, which doesn't seem to be happening.
Some people will develop hives as a result of bed bugs and this could be the source of the problem with the continued pain. If so I would reccomend a trip to the doctor to have it looked at with a possible remedy of a topical cortisone cream.
Spiders, ticks and other ectoparasite rarely have multiple bites and certainly not on the belly and back.
I would continue to investigate the Bed Bug possiblity as they may be on the Gondola as they are found in Limos, buses, couches movie theatres and even resturants.
Happy hunting!

funnily enough, this photo was taken of me as I got off the gondola...
Yeah, I'm going to keep an eye on it.. I just can't figure out where it'd come from. Haven't had any problems... maybe my dog got something and brought it into the house...

I got a picture like that too, damn tourist traps! Too much too resist though for a mere pitance of $14.95 plus applicable taxes.
Don't blame your dog, poor little Dude.
Dogs if anything will carry the little brown dog tick or a soft bodied tick. While disgusting are primarily a solitary beast and prefer dogs to a human host. Plus they bite in a single spot for prolonged periods and you will not have the numerous bites that you have displayed.
The only other culprit could be the flea. Fleas are extremely rare to non existant in Alberta. Unless you made a recent trip to the interior of BC we can rule out the flea.
The other reason that this does not seam to be fleas is once again the location of the bites. Fleas will bite legs between the ankles and knees.

Fair enough spiders are not ectoparasites in the true sense. What I should have said was invertebrates that bite, suck or pinch humans!

Thank you for the clearing that up, my good man.

This is a photograph of someone affected with Rocky mountain spotted fever. It is a blotchy rash, not really a case of "isolated bites". like wise if this was a tick that transmitted Lyme disease. The characteristic bite in Lyme Disease is a single bite mark with a large Bullseye ring surrounding the initial bite.
Doesn't sound like spotted fever but then again I am not a physician I only play one on internet message boards.
