These are actual scans from the next edition of Nintendo Power. Mega Man 9 has been confirmed for release on Nintendo's game download service, "WiiWare"

Inti Creates, a group of former Capcom staffers that worked on the first three Mega Man X games, the team behind the Mega Man ZERO and Mega Man ZX series, is slated to work on this game.

That's pretty awesome. To be honest, I didn't realize this was a new game! I haven't been in touch with the series since around 1995. Pretty bold choice to go with the old school look.

Has there ever been a female robot in the series before now?

The best part is that it uses the sideways Wiimote NES set-up. 2 buttons (jump and shoot) and the D-Pad.

Hopefully it's out this year.

Another great thing that will more than likely come from this is classic Nintendo characters in 2D. I know Mega Man has nothing to do with Nintendo, but you got to think that Nintendo made sure that a game like this made it's way to Wiiware. Combine that with a new 2D Wario Land game out in September and I'd be surprised if we don't see a 2D Mario or Metroid on Wiiware by the end of next year.
