Well this is a move that the ducks feel will benefit both organizations. It is one of those rare win-win deals.
Heading into talks we felt with Chara, Regehr, Ballard, Phillips, Niskanen, Oduya and Finger on the Dcore, 1 of the top 4 could go. We wanted some cap flexibility so the odd man out was Phillips. He is one of the best defensive dmen being rated 79OV with a 78DF but with his 7 mill salary and the role he was going to take we decided it was best to part ways.
Coming back is the underrated Denis Wideman who played #2 minutes, averaging over 25 minutes a game. He also posted an impressive + 11 with 13 goals and 36 points. He should fit in nicely paired with Regehr on our second pairing.
It sucks to lose the nJ 1st 09, but now the GMs can officially be friends again, which does carry some value. Nemisz is a Flames 1st and we all know how much this Ducks GM loves anything associated with the flames.
