Default What do you use on leather furniture?

What do you use to protect leather furniture from stains, dirt, etc.? Most retailers will try to push their treatment plans, but I think there has to be a better option. What do you use for this?

I have 2 black leather loveseats, I purchased some leather kit from costco. It makes them all shiny, not sure if it does anything else. I do it every other month, takes about 5 minutes. I think its true, if leather gets to dry it can rip easier but.

I use "Lexol". It's really good for conditioning leather but I don't know if it will prevent stains.

Damp cloth.
Used the conditioners in the past and they all made the leather dry up, especially in the winter with the heater on.

About 10 years ago, I purchased 2 leather chairs, complete with ottomans. At that time, my teenage boys used mousse or some other type of stuff in their hair. Where they rested their heads against the back, the leather discoloured - the spots are darker than the rest of the chair. I was wondering if there is something I could use on the leather to make the surface all the same colour? Any suggestions?

I've tried all kinds of cleaners on the head rests. Nothing seems to work. It's almost like someone pouring oil on the leather - it doesn't come out with any kind of cleaner that I know of. I'm getting rid of it all soon anyway. Now that the boys have moved out of the house, we have a chance of keeping our furniture in good shape

And be warned, make sure the wh---'s where clothes on the leather. The smell of sweaty leather is awful, and where ear plugs because it gets pretty squeeky.
