Hookers and blow at the bachelor party.
I once got a flask, kinda neat. I'd actually prefer a bottle of booze like Crown Royal or something.
Last time I stood up for a buddy we got $50 Visa gift cards. At least that way I was able to buy something that I really wanted.

Leatherman knives are a nice gift. Cufflinks. (Lots of men don't have them and they are nice to wear on the wedding day). Birks have a nice selection. Keg Certificates. IPOD's.

A really nice gift which isn't way over the top expensive is an engraved pewter ale mug. Particularly useful at the reception and any future viking parties.

Some good suggestions - I've received both the pewter mug and flask in the past - both were very nice.

Hookers and Blow
edit: Damn, reading comprehension isn't too great right now apparently.
Pewter mug is fine (and great when frozen before hand) and durable... stay away from the coated glass products though, they will sit on a shelf. Flask is also a good idea, but not widely used by most people. Go with something you know that most of them will use in the future (ie stay away from sports stuff unless you know they all play).

If you can find a nice looking money clip, brushed chrome perhaps with an inscription or their names engraved with the date of the wedding in small print on the inside, I think it'd be pretty dope.

I bought my best man a nice bottle of scotch and two crystal lowball glasses. He was more than pleased with the gift.

All of us got a Flames flask for my buddies wedding, which we all thought was sweet and were able to use to have sips before the wedding.
Another wedding I was in, my friend ended up giving us a gift 2 weeks later, and it was a crappy "survival kit" that had a bunch of faulty stuff in it. Was surprised to get anything to be honest, that friends really cheap.

I just got married and had trouble with this too. I ended up giving my best man an engraved zippo & flask. The groomsmen all got camping chairs that doubled as beer coolers. Beer included of course!

We just bought our groomsmen gifts this weekend... We didn't know what to get, so just bought them both a bottle of Grey goose vodka, and the MC we got a bottle of crown.

I got mine, my MC, and the readers at the ceremony each a bottle of nice cologne. I got them different brands as well so they could trade if they didn't like the brand they got.
Calvin Klein, Boss, Chanel (for men), Farenheit, etc

Mine are getting engraved belt buckles, keeping in with our Western-themed wedding. None of my guys drink, smoke or play golf, so the traditional gifts would not work.

Pocket knives and flasks are a couple things I've gotten, another one I saw that was good was a nice set of poker chips.
