Pacquiao destroys Dela Hoya
My favorite person in sports comes through once again!
I guess we don't have a lot of boxing fans on here? For a one sided blow out it was pretty damn exciting.
I was shocked when Oscar only gained 2 lbs after the weigh in and Manny actually outweighed him for the fight. HBO thought Oscar would come in at around 160lbs but he was only 147lbs.
The Pac Man has to be regarded as one of the best boxers in history.

I'm a big Pacquiao fan! Unfortunately, I had to work this evening or I would have paid the $55 to see De la Hoya get his ass beat again. I hate that guy.
Pacquiao/Mayweather superfight in 2009!!!

I still can't believe it myself, it's almost like a dream. I truly believed that Manny was in tough moving up in weight so much. His hand speed and movement were unaffected though and he actually weighed 148 1/2 lbs on fight day to De La Hoya's 147.
From the opening bell, it was clear that Manny was simply the quicker and better fighter and he pitched a shutout until De La Hoya quit. Who would have thought that the great Golden Boy would just quit and not fight to the end? The Golden Boy's legend is forever tarnished, while Manny has cemented himself among the the greats in the sport.
A buddy and I went to watch the fight at The Shark Club and the Filipinos there were celebrating like mad. Hot waitresses, fake boobies and Manny winning convincingly. Only drawback is that we did not bust some Mexican heads after.

BTW, I've been a boxing fan for years, since the latter days of Ali. I've had an affinity for Canadian and Filipino boxers of course a few of my heroes growing up were Willie DeWitt, Scott Olsen, Shawn O'Sullivan, Dodie Penalosa and Luisito Espinoza. Two facts for ya, DeWitt-Lakusta 1 was the highest attended boxing match in North American that year and Luisito Espinoza was the "original" Golden Boy.
It's too bad that MMA has left boxing in the dust when it comes to popularity, but I find that it will suffer some of the same fate as boxing with its alphabet champions, lack of truly dominant fighters and yes, corruption.

Time for Oscar to take his $22M, ride into the in ring sunset, and concentrate on "promoting". He hasn't won a major fight in what, 4 or 5 years and his legend is starting to lose more then a little lustre with efforts last night.

I watched the Paul Williams/Verno Phillips fight last week.
Williams is good, very good.

I'd much rather see a Hatton/Manny match-up at 140 lbs. That would be a helluva fight. Great to see Manny get the win, he's a really likeable guy. This one was costly for me though - I had DLH by KO! Shocked to see Manny dominate him the way he did.

Wow! Manny getting KOed? I'd have never made that bet. I don't think DLH has enough in his hands to knock anyone out anymore, especially a guy like Manny.
Hatton/Manny would be interesting...I'd still pick Manny.
I missed this fight so can't wait for it televise this weekend.

Hatton v Manny would be awesome
The funny thing is that the fight would make more sense if it was not held in the US though.

I've heard Wembley Stadium mentioned. That would be incredible!

rumors are starting to spread that Pretty Boy Floyd is about to come out of retirement and train for a fight against Pacquiao. That would be EPIC imo! The battle of Pound For Pound kings! I hope it does happen in the second half of next year!
