Oilers taking offers on rights to Alfredsson and Hamrlik
The Edmonton Oilers are committed to retaining the rights to a handful of pending unrestricted free agents, namely Jarome Iginla, Martin Brodeur, and Michal Rozsival. Unfortunately this means a couple other free agents will have to be let go.
Veterans Daniel Alfredsson and Roman Hamrlik have been notified that the right to renegotiate with them before July 1 may be traded, perhaps before the CPHL entry draft.
Needless to say Daniel Alfredsson is a superior player, both at the NHL and CPHL levels. He was the Oilers' top player in the CPHL playoffs and there is no way his 82OV rating will go down based on his play in the NHL in 07-08 and may even go up, you never know. He'll be very hard to say goodbye to but I think Iggy and Dumont should be solid next season down the right side.
The Oilers are looking for (in order of preference) quality D, LW, backup G, draft picks, and prospects.
Please e-mail or PM offers, as I won't be on MSN much during Calgary primetime.
