Americanos, what are you doing with your $600?
I'm assuming most American CP members know about the $600 the Man is sending us as part of the economic stimulus package. I'm just wondering what everyone here is planning to do with it.
I got my cheque a few days ago. While I think the whole idea (just like Ralphbucks) is a horrible allocation of resources, I will however use a part of it to get a new Iphone when it (supposedly) comes out in a week or two. Whatever's left over will be invested.
What about you guys?

Heh.
Most people will stick it right back into the economy, which should probably help.
Still a stupid idea though, especially in a country where they can't control spending.
Wasn't so bad in Alberta....cause we just have billions more to spend, and aren't running a yearly deficit and a trillion dollar debt.

We got $900--which was especially sweet since our federal tax liability this year was only $270. (Having a baby does that..)
That said, we pretty much needed it for moving expenses.

Lisa: If I'm going to bail the country out, I'll have to
raise taxes, but in my speech I'd like to avoid
calling it a, "painful emergency tax."
Milhouse: What about, "colossal salary grab."
Lisa: See, that has the same problem. We need to soften
the blow.
Milhouse: Well, if you just want to out-and-out lie ... [Lisa
doesn't object] Okay, we could call it a, "temporary
refund adjustment."
Lisa: I love it.
Milhouse: Really? What else do you love, Lisa?
Lisa: Fiscal solvency.
Milhouse: [disappointed] Oh. Yeah, me too.

Even with Alberta, that money would have been much better spent on a collective goal...it could have easily built another hospital or another leg of the LRT.

Well not really - we got $1200 back - $500 went for ink, $100 for drywall and the rest we put with our income tax refund on a payment against the mortgage.

So how exactly did this all work?
Was it $600 for every person, kinda like the Ralphbucks?
Or was it $600 for everyone who filed taxes?

Basically $600 for every adult, and $300 for every child...as long as you make under $75,000 (or something like that). If you make more, it's less...not quite sure how much.

$75000 if you're single. The limit is $150K if you are married.
