Wild make 2 moves
The Wild have kicked off their post-season with a pair of moves to announce.
First - the organization is bidding farewell to Sergei Federov. The veteran forward set to become a free agent on July 1st - was dealt to the Ducks for a 3rd rounder. GM Grant:
"We would love to have brought Sergei back but in our cap situation there was absolutely no way it was going to happen. I'm not sure how many teams are going to have a lot of cap space this off-season so I thought it prudent to get what I could for a guy we couldn't bring back anyways'.
The second move sees the Wild sign 23 year old Finnish dman Anssi Salemla (who coincidently also signed with the NHL counterpart Devils".
GM Grant:
"He's a great skater, played well at the world hockey championships, and ha good skills overall, while still be pretty young. Most important he's young enough that we can send him down to the AHL without clearing waivers and see if he can compete for a spot mid-season".
