Never enjoyed these movies. Can't explain why, but they bored me.

I'll be seeing this one. I've always been a huge fan of the Indiana Jones series.
I do however have my reservations about Shia Leboeuf, but I think this new Indy flick will be pretty kickass.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

You'll love this then. When asked about additional sequels, George Lucas had some scary things to say...
Quote:
“I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this,” Lucas told Fox News. “But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.”

I will be at the midnight screening at the Colessium. Just updating my iPod now with all 3 trailers, 14 TV spots and the soundtrack.

+1. Count me in this category also. The new one looks like it has some good special FX, but aside from that, the first thing that comes to mind with this series is The Mummy. I think I'll take a pass on this one though it's getting some good reviews (for the most part).

I actually liked him in Transformers, but this is a different role. I have to say I was initially skeptical about Justin Long in Live Free or Die Hard too but was pleasantly surprised.
We'll have to see how it shakes out. To be honest, I hope it works, I've always thought that Indiana Jones would be a great character to churn out a movie about every 5 years or so, almost James Bond style. But it has to work well.

The Mummy made my eyes bleed.
Brendan Fraser sold out his entire film career in that fiasco and he sold out cheap.

I liked him in Transformers too, and Disturbia and he was funny in Constantine. I like the guy, I just dunno about the idea of handing off the Indy franchise to somebody who, well, isn't Indy.
As for the idea of more sequels, I'll have to wait to see this one before I make an opinion on that.

Well I'm watching the Last Crusade right now and I can tell you why I didn't ever get through it the first time... seriously, he's standing in a puddle of "petroleum" and is soaking and yet can make a torch and not go up himself? Yeah....
It's ridiculousity at it's finest. I'm still entertained though.

I'm going to go see it on Friday, probably skip work early and go get tix for the early show. That being said, my expectations are low, but even if it is a poor Indy movie it'll probably still be better than 90% of the dreck foisted on the public this year.

Ok I moved out all the off topic posts, this thread is fine to discuss the movie.. having one thread to discuss a trailer and another to discuss a movie is fine, and even if it was a fata that's FAR LESS an offense than completely destroying a thread with off topic arguments about it.
Please resume the movie discussion.
Harrison Ford is OLD, that is all.

Thanks Photon. He is indeed old. Keep an eye out for the bike scene with him hanging on to Mutt. You'll realize how truly old he really is in that scene.

While Raiders of the Lost Ark is an absolute classic, and Temple of Doom is unfairly criticized (it's my personal favorite), I found things started to get pretty thin with The Last Crusade. The only thing that saved an otherwise forgettable 1.5 hrs of Indy 3 was the GREAT ending at Petra. I fear that they really milked all the material possible over the course of the original trilogy, and I'm worried Indy 4 is going to end up being a heavy-handed (though probably crowd pleasing) mess.
I guess they did have 19 years to come up with a script, so I could be wrong... But what really gets me is in watching the various trailers, there is waaaaay too much CG for an Indy movie. I mean the whole point of Raiders was to emulate the slightly-cheesy aspect of 40s & 50s serials. To introduce CG into that world saps it of all the uniqueness and nostalgia that were it's main strengths. I wish they had stayed the course using predominantly in-camera trickery and matte paintings for all the visual effects as that was what gave the first 3 movies the ultimate x-factor: charm.
We'll see tomorrow I guess.

I heard that the reason the film was in limbo was so long was because Lucas and Spielberg couldn't agree on it, Lucas wanted to make Indiana Jones: The Men from the Flying Saucer or something ######ed like that.
We all know what his storytelling skills have degraded to these days.

Countless fight scenes, face melting, someone getting their heart ripped out, explosions and Nazis!!
People falling out of planes, i guy gets shishkabobs thrown in to him, that are lit on fire!!!!!!!
And incredible adventures, sex/romance and of course indiana jones just outright kicking ass.
Those movies are underlined as Testosterone boosts!
