Default how not to disarm a landmine

warning, this does not end well

They are probably guys sitting in a gunship hundreds of miles up in the sky spying on people on the ground. They're military sitting in a plane and watching the ground, I guess they probably have seen worse or similar day to day.

It's also not a landmine, it was a 155mm round artillery shell. I'm sure if it was a landmine, they would have exercised better caution.

It's still probably instant death. Easier way to go than many others.

you'd think they'd just try and blow it up themselves rather then dig it out wouldn't you?

Certainly demonstrates the explosive power of those shells, couldn't even see any bodies left(or parts thereof)

and i must say the worst part of that clip was the anticipation, knowing something was gonna go bad in a big way and it takes so long to get there,

I'm guessing that was a dud shell and they were too inexperienced (but can you really be that dumb?) to realize that even dud shells can go off. Maybe, since it was buried so deeply into the ground, they didn't realize what it was and thought it was just junk metal.

I'm assuming by the vehicles and the air footage that this was a buried IED, since the insurgents are very good at using artillery shells into land mines. chances are that there was some kind of anti-tampering fuse in place to prevent soldiers to do what they were trying to do.

Considering that a 155 shell can throw a tank into the air the damage that it would do to a human body would be unreal.
