Man... some people will do anything for money.
I flippin' hate leeches on society like this. Always looking to cash in somewhere. Thank god his case got shot down, hopefully it sets a precedent for people to not take stupid legal recourse on crap like this.
Everyone sure likes to put the blame on others, and step on them to get ahead. I hope judges see through these types of charades more often than not from here on in and put an end to these types of people's constant whining.
Pants for $75 million, anybody?

Good news indeed. A rare victory for sanity, not something I used to seeing coming from the Supreme Court.
This story reminds me of growing up on the farm and eating fresh fruit and vegetables. Mom was a little busy in those days and quality control sometimes suffered as result. It was nothing to find a worm, ant, spider, etc. swimming in your raspberries and cream. Maybe I should sue Mom for negligence, emotional and psychological damage, ED, etc. Except I didn't suffer any of those traumas from her fresh-picked raspberries. Instead, I'd rather be able to go back in time and have a second helping.

Nice!
Although, in that case buddy drank it and got sick.
Not so much in this case.
For those of you who have no idea what he is talking about, a snail in a bottle of ginger beer was the first example of a tort lawsuit in Canada.

Man, that is good to read. Anyone hear about the father of that poor exchange student killed in the BC Helipcopter crash? His dad is now demanding compensation for the death of his son. Now I realize that he is very much deserving over the loss of his son but reading the details of the press conference, it sounded more like he was far more interested in getting a large payout then greiving the loss of his son. Something about his speach to the media really rubbed me the wrong way. It just sounded so "My son is dead? He died how? $$$$$$$ "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donoghue_v._Stevenson
Donoghue (or M’Alister) v Stevenson ( [1932] A.C. 562, 1932 S.C. (H.L.) 31, [1932] All ER Rep 1) is one of the most famous cases in British legal history. The decision of the House of Lords founded the modern tort of negligence ( delict in Scotland), both in Scots law and across the world in common law jurisdictions. The case originated in Paisley, but the House of Lords declared that the principles of their judgment also applied in English law. It is often referred to as the "Paisley snail" or the "snail in the bottle" case.
...
On the evening of Sunday 26 August 1928, Mary Donoghue, née M’Alister boarded a tram in Glasgow for the thirty minute journey to Paisley. At around ten minutes to nine, she and a friend took their seats in the Wellmeadow Café in the town's Wellmeadow Place. They were approached by the café owner, Francis Minghella, and Donoghue's friend ordered and paid for a pear and ice and an iced drink. The owner brought the order and poured part of a bottle of ginger beer into a tumbler containing ice cream. Donoghue drank some of the contents and her friend lifted the bottle to pour the remainder of the ginger beer into the tumbler. On doing so, it was claimed that the remains of a snail in a state of decomposition plopped out of the bottle into the tumbler. Donoghue later complained of stomach pain, and her doctor diagnosed her as having gastroenteritis. She also claimed to have suffered emotional distress as a result of the incident.

I agree, although to be fair, in an ironic coincidence, the father is head of the department that overseas aviation disasters in his home country (Kenya, I think). He probably knows a thing or two about how cases like these are settled. Well, at least in a third world country.

Let's not derail this thread when there is an existing thread about that already.

This whole thing sounds like an elaborate plot to cover up what was likely just a common sexual dysfunction.
