CP Book Club meeting
Ok, those who are still interested need to vote on when the CP Book Club will meet. If you've already let me know, you don't need to message again, but if you haven't, either PM me or reply in this thread by mid-week.

CP has a book club? Cool.
Has a book been chosen? I totally missed the boat on this one but might be interested.

Option 4 is my first choice. Option 5 would be my second depending on what time you consider evening.

I love books (I work at Chapters, for goodness sake!). I'm in, but I'm a student so I may not be able to show up at every meeting!

I am in for any day, no preference. I guess I kinda dropped the ball on this book club- I got too wound up with work there for a bit. Now back to school, yikes. When will I find time to read?
Just let me know when to show up.

The book this month was Libra by Don Delillo, for those who did not catch the original thread.
Afternoon I would think would be 2:00 PM, evening 7:00 or so. If nobody has a preference for where we go I'm going to pick a place - I prefer dark dingy bars where nobody can see my nefarious deeds, but somewhere with lights might be better - even a coffee shop or something might work. So if you know of a good place, please speak up!

How about Higher Ground in Kensington? It's a pretty nice coffeehouse, that I think many would find agreeable.

I didn't know about this but I think its a really cool idea. I'd love to be a part of it, if there's still room.

I'm okay with any of the suggested times.
In regards to the venue, Higher Ground is nice, but the downside is that if there's six or eight of us, those little coffeeshop tables are pretty small, and it can get really busy. A pub like Kensington Pub might be better. Like Higher Ground, it has a nice, central location, good literary vibe, but a bit more spacious.

I haven't been to Kensington Pub... but: is it going to be quiet enough to talk after a Flames game... most of the dates listed are game days.

Talked to a friend in Canmore this weekend who just joined a book club there. She read the book. Only two others read the book, They talked about the book for 5 minutes. Then everyone drank martinis all night.

I would second Octothorp suggestion for Kensington Pub. Great location.

Awww, I was hoping it was an online book club. You know, in the chat room or something.
Sucks to be me. I love book clubs.

wouldn't a pub be rather loud for a book club meeting?
Also, what is the final date and time? I need to get that book and get it read!

I was thinking something a little more structured, although the CP Martini Club would also be a worthy endeavor. Although we don't want this to be like schoolwork, it might be beneficial if we had some guidelines on what to discuss, so I'll give it some thought in the next few days.
Everyone who wishes to can attend, to answer a previous question. We'll try the Kensington Pub for the first meeting, and if it ends up being too noisy we'll go elsewhere in the future. So far Option 5 (Afternoon of Feb 9) is leading the pack on time/date, so if you want some other time you have to VOTE, as my psychic powers are oddly depleted at the moment.

Sounds like some/most of the networking meetings. Not that they weren't beneficial to me at least...

There was a book to read? Maybe that is why they seem to have ground to a halt!!?
