American Gladiators Returns!
Hulk is back at 8/7c tonight!
Some new gladiators:
Phoenix: http://www.nbc.com/American_Gladiato.../phoenix.shtml
Rocket: (last year winner) http://www.nbc.com/American_Gladiato.../phoenix.shtml
Jet: (last year winner) http://www.nbc.com/American_Gladiators/bios/jet.shtml
And don't worry, Crush is still there! Looks like Stealth is gone from the women.
Looks like they will have some new events also:
VERTIGO
Vertigo takes a good old-fashioned foot race and puts it 30 feet in the air on top of rail thin poles that sway violently back and forth. One contender and one gladiator begin their race on the ground and, on the ref's whistle, attempt to scale the first of 8 sway poles as fast as they can. When they finally do reach the top, they must use their body weight and momentum to propel themselves towards the next pole. The race continues until the first person reaches the final pole and grabs the trapeze at the end. If that person is the contender, they earn 10 points. If it is the Gladiator, the contender gets either 5 points - if they've made it past the fifth pole scoring zone by then - or 0 points.
ROCKETBALL
Contenders have one minute to hit their personal launch buttons and fire themselves as many times as they can into the air high above Gladiator Arena, where they'll try to sink baskets against two Gladiators with launch buttons of their own and one important goal - play some seriously aggressive defense. Balls in the lower basket are worth one point, balls in the upper basket are worth two.

I'm guessing that Hulk Hogan's son is playing a whole new way more serious version of gladiators.

I'd rather watch "professional" wrestling or even the Oilers

Didn't realize last year's winners were two of the new Gladiators. Not sure I like it.
(Pocket) Rocket is listed at 5'10" 160 lbs. The next smallest Gladiator is Militia at 6'3" 220 lbs. And then there's Justice at 6'8" 290 lbs.

LOL. It's odd, there's only one challenge, but it goes by a bunch of different names. It's not all bad though, I hear there's a guy named wolf . . . only instead of howling and being funny, he just rapes you.

I saw on a commercial that the Skytrack is back (game from the original American Gladiators). Always thought that was crazy.
I hope that they've changed the editing style a bit, but they probably haven't, given that the first go-around was a big hit.

I always had a sweet spot for Monica, aka Jet. I might have to try to watch tonight now...

A couple things from tonights season premiere... - Does the referee remind anyone else of the ref from the move Dodgeball? He's using the same mannerisms and has the same voice. Anyone care to confirm.
- I don't mind the old contestants as Gladiators as long as they stick them to events they'd excel at. Keep "Rocket" to all the speed events and it'll be fine.
- Phoenix is hot as hell! Crush has some competition this year...

This show is so boss.
I can't believe it ever went off the air.
Edit: Watching a guy with a prosthetic leg try to run the Eliminator though felt like an exercise in cruelty.

Hogan's son Nick got sentenced to 8 months jail within the last week. Except those Gladiators have names like Bubba...

To me it looked like people jumped down realizing it's faster to go through the ball pit then pedaling with their hands.
As for the guy with the prosthetic leg, watching him through the eliminator was kind of painful cause you knew it was going to be alot tougher for him especially with the way the foot portion of the leg was shaped. Was kind of worried that he'd get tied up in the net or break on the treadmill. Was glad they let him finish it.
