Anyone into the card trading games or used to be? Mine was Magic The Gathering. Used to play for hours with my friends and I have every complete set from Alpha to Nemesis. Hmmm..I could use that money...

It peaked my interest a bit in university. But once I walked through Mac Hall and there was a game going on with around 20 guys. I stopped to take a look and they shooed me away.

I used to play that a lot 13 years ago up till about 7 or 8 years ago. I didn't think the old cards were worth anything any more. I know when you could still use them in many tounaments some were worth hundreds. Then they changed the rules so lots of cards were always being taken out of play. With each new set that came out, a bunch of old ones became illegal.
If they are still worth something, I might be able to pick up some money myself.

They were just probably scared of being in such close contact with a female.

But you're right, I guess there still is some sort of market for them. Back when I was playing you could by a black lotus at the collectors shop for about $400 so you could probably sell it for half as much.
I started getting into it during revised edition, just before forth, just after beta. Played well into forth and ice age, fifth, maybe even sixth and some of all the crazy sets that started to come out during that time.
I had quite a few cards that were worth $10-$50 at the time and if I had any in that range I used to take a Grey Ogre (I looked for the card I had the most dupes of and it got to be a joke) and just wrote the name of the expensive card on it, so I could keep the expensive one in safe plastic but still use it.

Back in grade four, magic was awesome, everyone played, then it got banned due to people playing for cards and the kids who lost getting upset. Went the same road as pogs.
Still have my cards, but they have been used and abused and cant be worth anything now.

There are bids on Lotuses on ebay at around the $1000 mark. Several bids, it's crazy.
I played back in Junior high school, I also played Jyhad, which turned into Vampire: the eternal struggle. That was a much better game than Magic, much more developed and it had political voting in it. You could form alliances with people through votes and then backstab them when the time was right. Very fun game.

Played/collected for several years. I got in around the time Ice Age was released, and gave up after the Urza block. Got back in briefly around the Mirrodin block before the cost just became too great for how little I played at that point. I still have about six complete sets of various expansions, most of them in near mint, and thousands of random cards I keep saying I'm going to sell some day.
Dabbled a little in some other CCGs back then too... Star Wars, Star Trek, Deadlands Doomtown and Legends of the Five Rings. The last two were pretty good games.
