Wow, I am surprised. I didn't even bother picking up the playoff tickets, given how poorly they treat season ticket holders and that it would take two big upsets for them to get a home game.
Oh well, I know that it won't be hard to get tickets.
The game will be Saturday at 7:30.

Wow! Another Saturday night game for the Roughnecks. I wish I could have enjoyed a Flames playoff game on a Saturday night.

Game turned in the 4th when the score was 11-10. Keluwsky had a chance all alone in front that he finishes 99% of the time. Was stopped and the Jax scored second later to make it 12-10. Within minutes the game was out of reach.
Disappointing crowd. Under 10,000.

Ya, the goaltender let in a few softies that really hurt. The way the 'Necks were just passing and giving the ball up I thought Alex Tanguay had found a way to replicate himself to the entire Roughneck bench...Shoot the damn ball already!
The crowd was a major bummer. Small and had no energy. I think the screw-ups with the STH's might have been a factor.

Numerous factors can be blamed. The Riggers phone number and website was down part of the week. Ill-timed to say the least. Some STHs were also pretty peeved about the free ticket giveaway from earlier. Some were also pissed off about the price of playoff tickets overall.
Anyhoo the story of the game was the play of Dallas Eliuk - the 'necks would have had a better chance in this one if Matt Disher had stayed in. Eliuk for a 43 year old is still pretty spry.
Anyhoo Silcott says he doesn't anticipate many changes with this team in the off-season. They'll lose the Arizona players they got in the dispersal draft and I'm sure what the status of Paddy Campbell is but apart from that the core will likely remain in tact.

I think that's exactly it. They want premium prices if you buy your ticket as a season ticket holder, through ticketmaster, or through walk up sales. However it's pretty damn easy to get much cheaper tickets through special promotions, third party retailers, and even scalpers who are selling below face in front of the dome for a game that only fills half the place. And for NLL lacrosse it isn't worth $30 more per head to sit in the club seats vs. second deck seats. Professional Lacrosse is periphery and a novelty act when it comes to the professional sports scene in North America. When Roughneck season/walk up tickets start costing the same as Stamps tickets with a similar number of games something's wrong with their price structure and that's why the Stamps get 30,000 a game and the Necks can't even draw 10,000 most nights. If they want my business they have to start acting like a business that want to fill the place.

Holy crap...$36 for second level end seats? What are they smoking? These games are supposed to be affordable family fun, but when a family of 4 has to pay $11 to park, can't sit in the lower bowl when there are only 10,000 people there because prices are $80 there plus concession prices.
The necks only really had 1 week to sell tickets. Much like we see happen in the CFL a lot of the time playoff attendance is lower than regular season attendance because it's hard to sell all those tickets in one week.
The game was decently good until the fourth. There was always that chance for the comeback like in the Toronto game. Too bad they couldn't finish it off.
If they had won would have been a rematch from 04.

FWIW, the Roughnecks haven't had a regular season crowd below 10,000 in about four years, were 4th in the NLL in attendance this year, and have perennially been top five since entering the league.
9300 is actually more than I was expecting, so I am not at all unhappy with the crowd. Especially given the numerous other screwups Bannister has managed this year.

What kind of attendance numbers to the Necks get during the regular season? What do tickets cost during the regular season?

Bruce Codd
Chris Sellers (who was acquired from Edmonton who had claimed him)
Greg Hinman
Of those 3 I'd say Codd would be the biggest loss.

I don't get much Roughnecks coverage up here in the chuck. What were Bannisters screwups or the STH screwups everyone is talking about?

Basically they gave away tickets for free for one game. For people that have paid for tickets for an entire season that was a bit of a slap in the face.

I have to question a comment that is always made about lacrosse - we often hear that "anyone who comes to a lacrosse game will become a fan". I really don't think this is true. I think most sports fans in Calgary have been to a game by now, or watched it on TV. Most people I talk to just aren't entertained by it at all.

I think attending a game turned me off. It wasn't the play on the field that turned me off. It was everything else. The music playing during play, the announcer yelling non stop, people coming and going from their seats constantly during play. It seemed to me like they were trying too hard to entertain the fans with all this additional stuff instead of entertaining them with the game on the field. I also thought the price of a ticket was outrageous. Why should I pay more for a Roughnecks game than a Hitman game?
