Dallas Stars get Antti Niemi the goaltender, not Antti-Jussi Niemi the defenceman.

Because back in the past....The Wild once waived some no name named Nicklas Backstrom. Since the roster roll over hasn't occurred, I could have claimed him on waivers, waited to see what happened to this guy over the summer and than decided if I could waive him in October or if I should keep him. I have like 30 million of cap space for next year and theres no way in hell I'm going to use it up unless I decide to sign some 72 OV bums to 7 million a year contracts.

Why did you sign him Grant?
I decided to take a try because you can never have enough goaltenders and I'm still in need. Storr and Caron are both in Europe and not coming back. Schwarz still has value but really had a tough year in the Blues organization. Bachman was close to being the best goalie in college hockey this year as a freshman, but he's staying in school as he should.

What if Niemi is the next Backstrom? If he's in the NHL this coming season I look like a genius. If he totally bombs I can buy him out.

Yeah I was just hoping I was early enough that no one would no who he was.

These guys are crap shoots.

3 years ago I signed both Backstrom and Norenna - San Jose claimed Norenna but Backstrom proved a great asset for me.

Last year though I signed some other Euro guy that I don't even remember the name of. He came over and played for the Blues AHL team for a while then that was it.

But no risk on these guys.
