I want to block some Shaw channels. No, seriously....
OK, here's the deal. The rest of you techies may recall that I am a Bell subscriber. Yesterday I called Shaw and traded in one of my antique receivers for the Shaw HD-PVR. I don't think I'll be keeping the Shaw TV service, but I have 1 month free, so this was my plan....
The Bell receiver outputs to all the other TVs on a channel between 73 and 125. My thought was to use a splitter to combine the Shaw signal and my Bell's channel 73 output to be able to watch either Shaw or my Bell output. I didn't think there would be an issue because Shaw's channel 73 is digital.
All I get is snow on channel 73. A slight shadow of my Bell's 73 is behind there. And it is hooked up right, because as soon as I disconnect the Shaw line from the splitter I get my Bell channel on there.
I have tried almost every channel; including those that don't appear to be in use by Shaw like 86-89.
Anybody know of an inexpensive way to block those channels? I found something online for $80 that says it will block a range, but I don't want to spend $80 for what could just be 1 month. (Or less by the time it gets here.)
The other thing I tried was outputting my Bell system to a UHF frequency, and I did find a couple that worked, but the picture quality was not great, and that also brings me down to 13 Shaw channels from 50.
