Default Air Miles Question

I don't know if any of you have had experiences with air miles but I was wondering how many seats you can book on one filght? I would call air miles themselves, but I'd thought I'd save myself a phone call and just post it here.

I've got around 13500 miles and never have really used them. My buddy is getting married this summer and the wedding party thought about taking him to Vegas for a couple of days. Since I have these miles I thought of using them for the flights. (There would be 5 of us at the most going.) I know air miles isn't the best way to go for travelling, but it's either use them for this or save them up for a TV.

You can book as many as you like; as long as there are still Air Miles seats left on the plane.

I think there is X number of seats on every flight that the rewards companies can use, and are likely discounted. So if there's only 4 Airmiles seats left, you cannot buy 5.

Also be ready to pay for about 40-60% of what regular airfare would be in the form of taxes.

So it's probably better to save a 2000 more airmiles and get the 42" plasma tv.

Merchanside is probably the worst thing to get from Airmiles.

You'll get your best bang for your Airmiles for girft certificates. Take a look at what they offer and if theres any stores you are interested in. If you get a TV or something similar, you will be over paying. You can calculate how much $ value you get per air mile.

Yeah stay away from electronics if you're going to use your air miles,I still think your best bang for your buck is to book flights in the high season.

Definately don't buy merchandise. I have done that then found out the cost versus the cost of a flight and you get way more bang for your buck. I fly on airmiles alot..but remember, you have to book way in advance. It seems airmiles does not have as many seats available as it used to. I had to book my last flight three months ahead of time. I once tried to book to Vancouver and could not get flights even 3 months ahead for the days I wanted to go. My next airmiles purchase is going to be for Puerto Vallarta so I am thinking I will need to book at least five months in advance. My last flight was a few weeks ago to Vancouver Island and my charge was 112 dollars for taxes.

One of the best resources for airmiles usage and scamming the most out of them is:

www.redflagdeals.com

Their forums have saved me THOUSANDS on anything you could imagine buying, and netted me thousands of airmile for next to nothing. The best one ever was getting 2750 airmiles for buying about $60 bucks worth of sponges at Safeway. I didn't even take the sponges, just paid for em I just left them at the store lol. Just make sure you use the hot deals forum, it is like a frikkin deal ticker. I have also been paid to buy things. I.E delas where some store is blowing product x out, and there is an online mail in rebate for more than the sale price. Awesome site.
