Default Dell XPS M2010

Not sure how I missed this one when it launched a while back. Anyone own one? Just ordered mine today. Perfect for the mobile DJing I do (Virtual DJ has some really tiny controls that are hard to use with a notebook).

I have had two friends order similar models.

One spent 6k on it and ended up bitter as hell due to some shoddy construction/quality and really bad support. Returned it for full refund and bought a Toshiba instead (only 1200$).

The other bought the machine and loves it. No issues, no problems. Used primarily as a stationary gaming machine.

Personally, never understood the point of this model since it's too big to be really portable and was seriously expensive compared to desktop models. But, the DJ'ing thing kinda makes sense since you don't particularly care about setting it up on a coffee shop table.

If you ask me, nothing about that thing looks portable. It would take up an entire brief case.

Yeah, I understand when it launched, it was in the 5K base price range. ~2K now. It has been on the market for quite some time. Hope the quality is up to snuff when I see it.

I pack around an XPS 710 monster (desktop... if you can call this 44lb beast that...plus monitor) already. Actually dropped the box last time I brought it back into my pad.

And if you compare this "laptop" to the two 18" subs (140 lbs each) and two 100+ lb each top ends that I move around, it is a piece of cake.

What I like about it is that I can play concerts (via DVD) on it for stags and such when necessary. And it does have a bit of a wow factor. Never hurts when you are working off word of mouth.

Concerts huh? "Girls gone wild" is not a concert... unless they sing.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.... but you might want to get a screen protector.

Perhaps I should have put that in better context. In a few cases, where having a concert on in the background (like when playing pool at a stag... which is what some friends of mine are doing soon), and where that situation requires a small footprint, this will work well.

Not many cases where I would bring in a projector as there are few cases where I would actually play a concert. More often than not it would just be for casual get togethers.

Yes, it's demonstrated in the linked video.
