I don't see a thread from last night's episode yet, so I thought I'd start one. Kelly was the right choice to make it to the final challenge. I'm honestly not sure who I would have picked between Sandy and Jen. Although Sandy does own a business, I feel that Jen would be more suitable for a corporate climate like the other bosses stated during the interviews. I guess we'll see in the finale how the two final tasks play out.

I definitly hope Kelly wins the entire thing.

Anyone else feel the final project is "rigged" (not to start another one of these) in that Donald Trump probably told Chris Webber to fake cancelling so he can see how Jenn reacts?

I had a whole rant of Donald choosing the golf course with the best chance to rain (since he probably owns several, and lats year they also had bad weather), but this seems unreasonable.

However I think some of the obstacles these two will face, are planted, and to me that makes this finale less real and thus I have lost a little interest.

I've never liked the "challenges" that are issued to the candidates. Take any of of those CEO's fron the business world Trump had in the boardroom and ask them to plan a polo event or NBA game. Chances are they'd fumble it too as it's just so far outside of normal executive business. Effectively you take highly specialized executive people and ask them to plan a party. Not exactly a core competency of most executives. By that point they've delegated that task to someone else lower in their organization....

If Kelly doesn't win it is a joke. Jen has done nothing at all except for the first task.

Kelly has stepped up many episodes and proven himself to be a great leader and team player. Jen has never once been a decent leader and often been a pain in the ass as a teammate.

Yeah, this seems like a no-brainer to me. Unless Kelly really messes up something this is his job to lose.

I think the 2nd strongest candidate was the blonde girl that he has on his team (her name escapes me) - cut way too early.

After Kevin was eliminated, Jen just started attacking Sandy, and wouldn't let her or Trump get a single word in. I can't believe Trump likes this, if that was me I'd fire her butt for displaying high levels of unprofessionalism.

Speaking of Kelly, and furthermore to touch on a subject that I've wondered about for a while, how do people who start websites make money?

Kelly stated that he'd started something like 5 or 6 websites. My question is, once you start a webpage, how does that generate revenue? I understand that for sites where you sign up for a service and have to pay monthly that that may occur, but for sites like Google, Ebay, etc. where does the generated money come from?

Using Google for instance, it doesn't mean that everytime someone puts in a search the company gets money does it? I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I've just always wondered.

I mean, is the person who owns CalgaryPuck driving a Lexus for making this message board?

My guess would be advertising revenue. More hits equate to higher advertising revenue

Hahaha . . . . no.

A newspaper might derive only about 25% of its revenue from selling you a copy. The other 75% or so might come from advertising. Its a little more complicated these days but you get the idea.

Similarly, advertisers for a site like this might be interested in the demographic age of people like yourself viewing it and position advertising to take advantage of you coming here.

E-Bay would take a cut of transactions or charge a fee to list a product . . . . like those bank machines in 7-11 that charge you $1.50 to use them even if you are accessing cash at another bank.

So there are various ways money can be made via a website, even one where you don't pay for content.

Hence the reason I said it was unreasonable. The Webber one is very sketchy though.

I am completey floored that Jenn made it through to the final. Its amazing what a lot of makeup, nice teeth and perky tits will do for you when Donald Trump is involved. I really like the show, but Donald Trump has really proven to me that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing and that it is more important to surround yourself with good people and have a lot of luck than be a good business man yourself. It killed me when he let Jenn through. What were the records of the other candidates? 3-0 for Kelly. 2-0 for Kevin. 2-0 for Sandy. What was Jenn's record as a PM? 1-0, and that victory came in the infamous Doggie Salon event where Mosaic fell on their own sword and Stacy took it in the neck for doing nothing. The only thing that has made Jenn impressive, besides her makeup (applied with paint roller), is her ability to stay low and let others around her take the risks and get killed. She has proven to have zero character (taking the credit for Ivana's "jean wheel"), no work ethic (she lead the show in not getting her nads dirty) and a coniving nature (has anyone been more manipulative heading into the bored-room?) which are three big strikes against her IMO. She should have been fired a long time ago, but for some reason Trump has a chubby for her and has kept her around. Maybe he's hoping she'll drop trow for him to get the job and his apprentice?

Kevin is a professional student so I didn't have a problem with him being turfed.

I was a bit surprised Sandy didn't pull it out ahead of Jen . . . . . but the argument that she might not be happy in a corporate environment after being a successful entrepreneur has some basis, as noted by the vastly experienced CEO's interviewing her.

Really, I don't think this is about Jen versus those two as it might be Jen versus Pamela and some of the others who were better qualified but were dismissed earlier. I agree Jen shouldn't be there in the end.

Or maybe Trump was setting up Kelly for an easy win because that was the guy he's wanted since the middle of the show.

I'm warming up to Jen deserving to be there. She's definitely a giant bitch, but she seems to have the most deliberate strategy of how to make it though each time and she's absolutely dynamite at executing her plan (and her colleagues in the boardroom).

Now thats she's made it to the final two, anything can happen. She's the minnesota wild of the Apprentice. Keep it close and see if you can pot one in the end.

Google makes their money by selling you priority in searches.

As an example Ford will pay Google $$$ to have them come up on the first page of the search that you using their website rather than 50th or whatever. It's sort of like the AAA-Car mufflers, AAAA-Car mufflers method of getting to the top of the car muffler advertisements in yellow pages, but Google charges you money for it.

Same with all other search engines.

I'm nitpicking, but Google doesn't sell ranking within their search, only within their paid advertisements.

No one can buy or sell higher ranking within google's organic search results. Lots of people will sell their time and expertise to try and get you higher ranking however.

By definition the difference between a search engine and a directory is the ability to buy your way onto or higher up in the listings.

Interestingly, Google actually gets about half its revenues from ads that are displayed on other sites, not its own.

For organic searching no. Google does not accept money for rankings in the organic search. The organic search is based upon links to your site. So, what people will do, is pay other sites, to link to their site, optimize their site to rank high for desired search strings, etc.
