The Golden Globes are the nerdy pre-squel to the Oscars, but they seem to get it "right" more often.

Jamie Foxx has been nominated 3 times this year, a record. Although I am really hoping Paul Giamatti wins for Sideways. He should have won for American Splendor last year.

I couldn't stand Jamie Foxx in Collateral. The whole time I was hoping that Tom Cruise would get p*ssed off and kill him. Can't believe that he is nominated for that movie.

That is one movie I still haven't seen, and don't plan on seeing it. I am a pretty big movie guy, I will see anything this side of Kangaroo Jack, but Tom Cruise as a Hitman seemed a little silly.. and I bought him as a Samuri last year.

Foxx's performance in Ray is hard to deny though, top notch stuff.

I'm hoping Sideways gets a wider release as a result of this. The only Calgary theatre it was playing in was Westhills, and I hate driving way out to the suburbs to pay $15 to see a film.

edit: oh, I see it's at the Uptown now, so I have no excuse.

Actually I would say that Cruise was very good as the hitman. Very believable. Much better job than Fox did.

No Jimmy Gandolfini nomination?

He might be the best actor working today, TV or movies. And he's not even nominated. That's like leaving Gretzky out of the all-star game because he's had his run and the fans want to see somebody new. Brutal.

And yeah, still need to see Sideways. I've heard great things. And go Kaufman, go.

Well I dunno about the best actor working today, but maybe if he had more movie roles he would get nominated.

The Last Castle was on the CBC last saturday, that is one hell of a good movie and Gandolfini gives a great performance too.

I think Keifer Sutherland should have been nominated for 24. It's the best damned show on TV bar none.
