Default Cover Letters

So I am applying for my first "career" type job and am currently in the process of writing my cover letter. Now, I am getting married in a month and that is followed by a two week honeymoon. I was going to wait until after the whole wedding deal to start applying for jobs, but this one came up that I am very excited about and would love to have so I am applying for it now. In any case, I won`t be available for this new job until after my wedding. Do I write this in the coverletter or do I wait for the interview to let them know?

This may seem like a really silly question, but I'm not so great at writing cover letters...

I wouldn't write anything in your cover letter that would give an employer a reason to not want to hire you. The cover letter is meant to highlight and promote yourself and your resume. Push to be considered, and in the end, if they want you, then you can work out those details. I don't think "getting married" is an unreasonable excuse for some time off.

No, don't mention that stuff. Those kinds of things can be brought up at the end of an interview or before an offer. If you put them in your cover letter you probably won't even get an interview.

Personal information should be left out of your resume/cover letter. Stick to your experience, skills and education.

I don't know... the only worry I would have is if they took a long time making their short list, and then tried to contact you while you were on vacation. If they couldn't get a hold of you and didn't know why, you'd be out of contention instantly.

If this is a possibility, perhaps just plan to give them a call if you haven't heard from them before your vacation, and let them know that you'd like an update on their timeline.

I would send in the resume and cover letter, and if you don't hear from them before you leave, simply pick up the phone and call them and followup.
