WEED - As Long as We're Talking Drugs...
What's your deal? Tried it/hated it? Smoke it occasionally? Regularly?
I used to smoke weed in high school and for a couple years following. Alot of my friends did, too. Many of them still smoke it regularly. One day I just wasn't interested in it anymore. When I'd smoke, I'd just get stupid. Couldn't hold a thought, couldn't converse normally. Alot of 'uh's' in my speech. That is probably what turned me off the most.
It's one thing to not know something, it's another to know but not be sharp enough to discuss it.
But like I said, I've got a few friends that still smoke it. Some of them smoke it every day, all day, like I smoke cigarettes. And they're totally normal. You wouldn't even know they're stoned.
I'm at the point where I usually wont even accept a hoot. You can smoke it around me, even in my truck, but I'm just not interested. As per our other drug thread, I'd be more likely to accept a rail. But even more likely to accept neither.
All this cat wants is a beer...

I found weed made chronic users really lazy. Also, isn't one joint like smoking 25 cigarettes? I think it is relatively harmless, and probably should be decriminalized.
I've tried it in the past, but would not take it now if offered - anything you have to smoke or inject is not for me.

Weed was never my thing I guess. I did it in high school now and again but soon after I just stopped. I always wave it off if someone passes to me. I don't judge anyone for doing it but it never was something I enjoyed much.

You let people smoke it in your vehicle?
Are possession laws radically different in Canada or something?
I despise it, that's my stance.

Maybe twice in my life.
Once when I was 15
Once a few years ago before a U2 concert.
Didn't like it either time, when I was 15 it made me outright stupid.
The stuff I had a couple of years ago was powerful stuff and for some reason it made me really paranoid and edgy.
I don't see the point of the stuff, and I think it does a lot more harm when used regularly then people let on.

Yeah, it just doesn't bother me. In fact, I like the smell. Possession laws? I think under an ounce is no big deal. I remember one halloween night, trying to get someone to boot for us at a liquor store, the cops showed up. They searched us and found my buddy's 8th on him. All they did was dump it on the ground and mash it with their boots.

Wow.
You'd be arrested in the US and charged with possession, if caught with it in your car. Whether its yours or not.
I've just seen it destroy too many lives of people close to me. Aslo, since I know what it's like to not have properly functioning lungs and since I've taken advanced organic chemsitry classes, I would never inhale superheated smoke into my lungs willingly.

Given my last name I should really be smoking more weed. But despite that irony I don't smoke much weed at all. Most of the times I've had weed (all in joint form) I've been severally intoxicated on beer so I didn't notice the effects. I thought I had a high weed tolerance until I smoked out of a bong sober. Then I understood why people smoked weed.
I think weed is one of those things that if your friends don't do it, you don't either (much like alcohol). I'm sure there are exceptions but every time I meet users, their whole group of friends are users. I rarely meet someone who uses it on their own.
I actually wouldn't mind smoking some every once and while. I haven't had it in years, but it wouldn't hurt having some when I go camping or something like that.

Not my thing. I had a bunch of friends do it in high school and I did it with them a few times, but stopped as soon as I stopped hanging out with them. The whole stoner attitude really annoys me, it's less about the drug and more about somehow thinking you're cool for smoking it.

It's decriminalized in Canada. Meaning that personal use only results in a fine. Having more than an ounce is considered intent to sell or trafficking, and is met with much stiffer penalties.

Smoked it fairly regularly from ages 15 - 21. Like 4x4 got tired of being a burnout and have not touched it in 15+ years. Friends still smoke it around me and it does not bother me, just not interested anymore.

When I was younger I smoked it infrequently, but had friends who smoked all the time.
Personally I don't find it all that appealing. I found it quite boring and would much rather get drunk.

You know I was just thinking about starting this thread. Always wondered what CP thought of weed.
Personally I enjoy the odd joint. Usually at a Flames game or after a night of drinking. I usually only smoke about once or twice a month.
In fact I'm high right now. And about to get higher.

Hmm, i have used frequently in my life. I believe there are different strokes for different folks. I have many friends, some of which smoke and some which don't. I have two degrees, a 3 year career, and I have a band and a recording life, so I don't think it makes me that lazy or unproductive.
I have been involved with people who ship grand pianos of green(more keys than a grand). I have been involved with doctors who prescribe it as recreational pain relief. Personally, I have had lots of friends like those in this thread who used and now find it's just not for them.
I am almost there, but I willing put superheated smoke into my lungs. For how long I don't know. I don't smoke cigs and I am fixated towards oral activity like that(nail biting), so I decided to pick what tastes good and does something(although it's not much) positive for me. I started using because I wanted to escape problems in my life. I find that I still manage stress that way, but use it in other situations to promote creativity. Now at least I recognize this and point it out to myself so I'm not passively dealing with anxiety. Sometimes I just use it for social reasons, but then again that can get pretty taxing when you have as many friends in the hip-hop world as I do.
The funny thing is that other professional athletes do the same and consistently perform at high levels of sport, cough, cough, Kipper.
I honestly believe that the situations in which u use it greatly define your experience with it. Iff you use it to be creative then you'll reap those benefits. If you use it to escape and fill a void, you may end up outgrowing that potency and look towards stronger more dangerous substances. Unfortunately, the latter is so much more frequent that it gives Mary Jane that notorious label as a gateway substance.

Smoked it by the bale between the ages of 16 and 23, and then just kind of got bored with it and haven't touched it in 20 years. I used to prefer hash, oil and mushrooms to weed though. Unless it was good weed it wasn't very pleasant stuff to smoke. A lot of the low grade Mexican stuff we used to get back in the '70s was kind of like twisting up a pinch of hay and smoking that. Does anyone remember Thai Stick? That was pretty good stuff. I haven't heard of Thai Stick since the 70's though. And Nepalese or Kashmir hash ... I have fond memories of that stuff too.
It's interesting that a lot of people lose interest in the stuff when the get into their early 20s and just spontaneously quit the stuff. I didn't even really make a decision to quit. I just got to a point where I didn't want it anymore. That's what happened to most of the guys I used to smoke it with too. A few have continued to smoke it, but most more or less just outgrew it.

I've never had enough to get actually high, so I'd say never for me. Have I taken a puff from a joint? Once yes. But other than that, never. I don't really care if you do it, but even the little I had, I didn't like what it did to me. Just not my thing. But if you want to do it, go ahead...just try not to do it around me.

I used to be a super heavy user but I stopped a lil while back.. It wasnt easy, I had a tough time with the crackhead like withdrawl symptoms.. I was fine while awake aside from severe moodiness at times.. But night was the worst, I would wake up every couple of hours with crackhead cold sweats where I was completely soaked from head to toe.. A lot of my friends still smoke it constantly, it doesnt really bother me being around it.. It's just no longer my thing..
