An interesting find.
I started reading a used book I had bought quite a while ago ( My Country: The Remarkable Past by Pierre Berton). I was a chapter in and some pages started to fall out. Then I noticed it wasn't pages, but a booklet - the program from the 1987 Calgary Stampede in great condition!
Pretty neat. No Coca Cola stage or Nashville North; the Saddledome was complete - on Friday it was the WWF, Saturday was Bon Jovi (some things never change) and Wednesday-Saturday was Wheel of Fortune, and Sunday was Corey Hart. The Superdogs were there, and there were Racing Pigs.

The Indian Village is still there, isn't it, in the same spot? I think I saw it a few years ago.

It was there. It was just sponsored by Petro-Canada at the time. It was the same as the Coke Stage, but they didn't bring in as many of the B-C list talent that they do now. Back then, it was more D-E list. Coke took over the sponsorship in the early 90s sometime and they started bringing in the bigger (relatively speaking) names in 1995 when the Saddledome was closed for renovations.
What was the price of admission? Does that say $5 or 6 for adults?

That "Eat More Chew" contest sounds like a real thrill.
Also, you'd think they'd put the stampede url on the front page or somewhere on the map. Dummies.

The Indian Village is the same as it ever was. They even have a website now: http://www.indianvillage.ca/

OK, I see the Petro-Can Stage now - "The Mugglestones", "Diamonds", "The Zippers", and so on.
And admission was $5 for adults, $4 for youths, children and seniors $1.50 (children under 6 - free).

Hey, check something in there, wouldya?
I went to the grandstand show that year, and there was a great singer from the fifties/sixties.
Tiny little thing.........I'm sure here name was Brenda or Peggy Lee......or Brenda or Peggy something.
Would you check out your program and tell me who headlined?
Thanks.

I'm with you. Wasn't he gone by then?

Didn't he score the goal to tie game 6 vs the Canucks? That was the game the Flames were down 4-0. I also remember would looked to be a hammered Jann Arden singing the anthems that night.

I remember going to that Bon Jovi concert.
Terry Stokes (the hypnotist) is like Dick Clark. Always on the program, and never ages!

OT topic but my only vivid recollection of Clark is when Rutuu tried to snap his ankle.
Oh the clock tower how I miss you. That was the easiest place to meet people back when I went.

That's exactly what I thought of when I read all that Clark stuff from above. Definitely the one where we were down 4-0 and Niemenen (sp?) got the second goal at the end of the 2nd with a Lombardi-esque goal. Clark's was a tip-in later on in the 3rd. Best Flames loss I have ever witnessed.
I also remember Jann Arden .
