well, before I had figured I'd just go ahead and buy US and MEX currency when the time comes in 2 weeks, as I'm going to Mexico over Christmas/New Year's (but I'll need USD along the way anyways, and even to exchange in mexico is ok if I have some left over)

So, having watched the dollar drop about 2.5 cents in the last week or so, from 84.0 ish to 81.5 ish, I'm now wondering if I should hedge against the slide continuing, or just continue to ride it out and see what happens over the next 2 weeks?

Any advice from those that follow this sort of thing?

(CDN currency is sliding aginst the Peso as well, not just theUSD, so I guess I'm wondering about both exchanges)

last time I went to mexico, I was able to us my PC bank card to withdraw money, and as it turned out when I got home and actually looked at it, that was the best rate I received, after fees.

This worry is a bit different though, that's still what I'll likely do if I need more money there, but if the dollar moves another 3 cents by the time I go I'll still have been better of to buy traveller's checks or get US or mex cash now than waiting until I'm in MEX/US.

Don't hold me to it, but in MY opinion the dollar is just firming up right now, i wouldn't worry about much more of a drop. Worst case i see it at 78-80, but more likely right in the range it is in now (80-83)....

Either way, it has to move a solid 5 cents+ for it to start to make much a difference, assuming you have already payed for the trip itself.... even then...

Last week I read that they figured the currency would slide before rebounding back. If the prediction holds true, then we'll be right back to where we were anyway.
